A lithium secondary battery which includes an electrode assembly in which a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate are wound in one direction, a battery can in which the electrode assembly is accommodated, and a sealing body which seals an open end of the battery can. The positive electrode plate includes positive electrode active material comprising single particles, quasi-single particles, or a combination thereof, and the positive electrode active material has Dof 1.0 μm or more.

An internal pressure measuring jig for a cylindrical battery cell, of the present invention, comprises: a lower jig which has a form corresponding to a cylindrical battery cell, and has a temperature measuring part and a receiving groove in which the cylindrical battery cell is separably inserted; and an upper jig which discharges gas inside the cylindrical battery cell, has a pressure measuring part for measuring the pressure of the discharged gas, and is separably coupled to the lower jig so as to close off an opening part of the receiving groove.

Disclosed herein is a cap assembly disposed on an open upper end part of a cylindrical can of a battery, the battery being configured to have an electrode assembly mounted in the cylindrical can, the cap assembly including a safety vent configured to rupture in order to exhaust gas when the interior pressure of the battery reaches a predetermined pressure limit, an upwardly-protruding cap plate disposed on the upper part of the safety vent, the cap plate having a through-opening configured to receive the gas exhausted therethrough, a current interrupt member attached to the lower end of the safety vent, the current interrupt member configured to interrupt electric current when the interior pressure of the battery reaches the predetermined pressure limit, and a guide member attached to the inside of the cap plate, the guide member being configured to prevent escape of a ruptured portion of the safety vent.

A secondary battery is disclosed. According to the present invention, in a case in which the secondary battery is ignited, a gas and materials within the secondary battery may be smoothly discharged to improve safety when the secondary battery is ignited. In order to achieve the above-described object, according to an aspect of the present invention, a secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a battery can accommodating the electrode assembly; and a coating part applied to the battery can, wherein the battery can includes a slim part having a relatively thinner thickness than that of the other region of the battery can, and the coating part is applied to the slim part and made of a metal material having tensile strength less than that of the slim part.
