A coin sorter machine including an encoder and a sensor assembly more accurately determines the position of coins in a coin sorting path to facilitate coin sorting. The coin sorter uses a coin size attribute to more accurately calculate the timing of interactions between coins on the coin sorting path and one or more components of the coin sorter. One such component is a diverter configured to perform an offsorting operation.

Method and apparatus for offsorting coins in a coin handling machine

A method and system for prevention of dust accumulation on a coin sensor assembly () in a coin handling machine (), includes a lower optical element () positioned below a coin track () and then either, or both of, 1) blowing off dust that tends to accumulate on the cover () for the lower optical element () and 2) coating the cover () for the lower optical element () with a transparent conductive coating () that is electrically grounded to prevent accumulation of dust due to static electrical attraction. A fan unit () is positioned adjacent the cover () for blowing dust off the cover () during operation of the coin handling machine (). Method and system for dust prevention in a coin handling machine

A self-service change redemption machine () has an intake area () for receiving batches of mixed coinage and conveying the coins to a coin sorter () for sorting, counting and directing coins into a plurality of coin chutes (). From there, the coins are routed to coin receptacles such as bags (). Multiple bags are provided for certain denominations. To fill multiple bags for a given denomination, repositionable diverter mechanisms () are provided between the chutes () and pluralities of bags for the respective denominations. The bags are held by bag holders () which extend downward from a substantially rigid one-piece chassis (), which also supports the diverter mechanisms (). The machine () has buttons () responsive to inputs from a user to turn on the machine, to process coins that are input through the intake area () and to issue the voucher or other form of credit. Self-service cash handling machine and method with configurable coin storage

A moveable coin bin assembly for holding a plurality of coins is disclosed. The moveable coin bin includes a coin bin housing () for receiving coins, the coin bin housing being disposed on wheels () for movement, a handle assembly () including an elongated handle () having an upper end for gripping () and a lower end for coupling and de-coupling to the coin bin housing. The handle assembly () further includes a latching and retaining mechanism () for coupling to the coin bin housing in a motion along a floor, wherein said latching and retaining mechanism is releasable by a user to de-couple the handle assembly from the coin bin housing. The coin bin () includes a brake system that can be selectively applied by a detachable handle (). The bin () can be used with a coin collecting machine () includes a motorized funnel system () for funneling coins to a plurality of coin collecting apertures () in the bin for even distribution.
