A wireless charging steering wheel device is described herein. The wireless charging steering wheel device is coupled to a power source via a clockspring included in the steering wheel. Also disclosed herein is an integrated wireless charging/heating system. Also disclosed herein are multiple coil placements for implementing the wireless charging steering wheel device.

Wireless charging steering wheel

A headlamp assembly for a motor vehicle having a light source, a chamber that receives the light source and a cooling channel for removing heat from the chamber. A conductive wall and an insulating wall cooperate to define the chamber and the channel. The conductive wall has a substantially higher thermal conductivity than the insulating wall to promote the heat exchange between the chamber and the cooling channel and to reduce heat exchange between the cooling channel and the relatively hot engine compartment.

Headlamp assembly with integrated housing and heat sink

The electronic system generally includes an electronic panel having circuitry plated on a surface thereof as well as electronic components attached thereto. The circuitry connects the electronic components for operation of the electronic device in the engine compartment. A flatwire bus electronically connects the electronic panel and the electronic device in the engine compartment for transmitting signals there between. The electronic panel is directly connected to the bulkhead.

Bulkhead flatwire integration units

A headlamp assembly for a motor vehicle including a lens and a housing that cooperate to define an inner chamber that is generally isolated from the atmosphere. A heat sink includes a fin portion that extends from the inner chamber so as to be exposed to ambient air. A light source is located within the inner chamber and is supported on a base portion of the heat sink. The heat sink conducts heat from the light source to air located exterior of the chamber.

Convectively cooled headlamp assembly

A method for forming connections within a multi-layer electronic circuit boardwhich allows for the selective, efficient, and reliable interconnection between at least one conductive layer and a ground plane or layer.

Method for forming multilayer circuit board

An integrated vehicle structure includes an electronic site in a plastic support structure. The electronic site has a flexible substrate with electronic components mounted thereon. The plastic support structure defines a plastic mounting surface which includes a plurality of elongated ribs projecting from the plastic support structure. Each of the ribs have a side edge forming a portion of the plastic mounting surface. The flexible substrate is mounted to the plastic mounting surface, and a plurality of air flow passageways are defined by adjacent ribs in the flexible substrate. A method support structure may also be provided which defines a metal mounting surface. One or more electronic sides may be attached to the metal and plastic mounting surfaces.

Electronically integrated vehicle structure

An electronic system generally includes a flatwire electronic site and a flatwire bus electronically connecting the flatwire electronic site to an electronic device in the engine compartment. The flatwire electronic site has a flexible substrate with electronic components attached to the substrate for operation of the electronic device. The flatwire electronic site is mounted to the passenger site of the bulkhead for thermal cooling as well as protection from the harsh environment of the engine compartment. The bulkhead has an aperture sized to allow the flatwire bus to pass through the bulkhead into the engine compartment. By utilizing a flatwire bus, this aperture is small in size and the integrity of the bulkhead is improved.

Underhood electronic interior integration

An automobile instrument panel assembly may be used in the cockpit of an automobile. The assembly includes a cross-car structure having a plurality of recesses and protrusions along the length of the structure and a plurality of generally planar surfaces. A plurality of HVAC components are adapted to closely fit within one or more of the plurality of recesses within the structure, and at least one flatwire bus is affixed to the generally planar surfaces of the structure.

Instrument panel with integrated HVAC and electronic systems

An integrated engine combustion monitoring system that includes at least one structure comprising a light communication channel (LCC) and a sensor, which are embedded in a cylinder head gasket, for monitoring combustion composition, pressure, or temperature. The sensor and the LCC may be positioned between an air cavity or a material comprising a photorefractive gel or polymer. The sensor includes a sensing component that may have various shapes or configurations. The LCC comprises one or more materials, such as a polymer, which may be formed into a strand or other structural shape and incorporated into the cylinder head gasket. The other end of the LCC may be fabricated as part of one or more engine structures or it may be connected to other structures or components such as optical detectors or associated process control electronics.

Engine combustion monitoring and control with integrated cylinder head gasket combustion sensor

An electronic system generally includes a flatwire electronic site and a flatwire bus electronically connecting the flatwire electronic site and an electronic device in the engine compartment. The flatwire electronic site has a flexible substrate with electronic components attached to the substrate for operation of the electronic device. The flatwire electronic site is mounted to the engine side of the bulkhead for thermal cooling of the flatwire electronic site. A cover is attached to the bulkhead which encloses a flatwire electronic site for environmental protection.

Underhood electronic integration

A braking unit is provided. In one embodiment, the braking unit comprises a base member, a guide member, a flexible rod, an actuator adapted to induce deformation of the rod, and a brake pad. One end of the flexible rod is fixedly attached to the base member while another end is slideably disposed within a passageway defined by the guide member. The brake pad is positioned adjacent the flexible rod such that deformation of the rod causes lateral movement of the brake pad. The braking unit can be incorporated into disc and drum-type braking assemblies and systems.

Braking assembly and system

A vent assembly that can be concealed when in a closed configuration is provided in one embodiment, the vent assembly comprises a base member and a guide member secured to a mounting surface of a duct or other passageway. A flexible rod is fixedly attached to the base member and slideably disposed within a channel defined by the guide member. A panel is disposed on or around the flexible rod and between the base and guide members. An actuator is able to deform the rod such that the panel moves away from the terminal opening of the duct, thereby opening the vent. A fluid distribution system incorporating vent assemblies in accordance with the present invention is also provided.

Concealed air vents

Method of manufacturing a multi-layer printed circuit board adapted for reduce interfacial sheer stresses includes a laminate substrate having a top layer forming a first major surface, a middle layer having a predetermined thickness and a bottom layer forming a second major surface opposed to the first major surface. Etch resists are disposed on the first and second surfaces corresponding to reverse images of desired conductor patterns. The first and second surfaces are thereafter etched and the photoresist removed. The laminate substrate is secured via a low modules adhesive layer to a major surface of a base. The middle layer of the laminate substrate is thereafter selectively etched so as to isolate selected portions of the first and second surfaces and to define inner connect regions therebetween having a height equal to the predetermined thickness.

Multi-layer printed circuit board and method of making same

A container holder for receiving and securing a container is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the container holder comprises a base surface, at least one moldline structure unit, and a sensor. The sensor detects the presence of the container in the holder and induces deformation in the moldline structure unit such that the container is secured in the holder.
