A mulching mower mechanism, having an inverted U-shaped channel member positioned within the outer periphery of a cutting chamber of a mower deck for generally confining the clippings circulating at the outer periphery of the cutting chamber. The channel member extends generally across the mower deck's discharge outlet for generally diverting the stream of clippings away from the outlet and thereby serves to maintain the clippings within the deck to be re-cut by the blade. The channel member includes an upper and outer wall portions positioned adjacent the discharge outlet for generally blocking the clippings and air within the channel from exiting the discharge outlet. The channel member also includes an inner wall portion which separates the stream of clippings from the relatively clean air circulating within the inner portion of the deck. The discharge outlet is in fluid communication with the inner portion of the cutting chamber for allowing the clean air to exit the cutting chamber via the discharge outlet, thereby maintaining an updraft within the cutting chamber.

Mulching mower mechanism

A closed granular chemical handling system comprising a dispensing valve and a receiving valve. The dispensing valve and the receiving valve are automatically opened when the valves are coupled together, and are automatically closed when the valves are uncoupled from one another. The valves are configured so that the receiving valve always is the first to open and the last to close. The valves are driven together by a camming structure having a neutral portion that acts as a delay between the opening and closing of both valves so as to allow granular material to flow from between the valves through the receiving valve.

Closed granular chemical handling system

A closed granular chemical handling system comprising a dispensing valve and a receiving valve. The dispensing valve and the receiving valve are automatically opened when the valves are coupled together, and are automatically closed when the valves are uncoupled from one another. The valves are configured so that the receiving valve always is the first to open and the last to close. The valves are driven together by a camming structure having a neutral portion that acts as a delay between the opening and closing of both values so as to allow granular material to flow from between the valves through the receiving valve.

Leaves and other debris arranged in piles along a roadway are lifted by a flail-type rotary cutting device towed centrally behind a tractor. The device includes a containment hood having a forwardly opening throat which is adjustable to conform generally to the size of the piles for receiving the piles and restricting the material from being thrown forwardly from under the hood particularly at the end of a pile. The lifted material is delivered into a receptacle towed behind the cutting device. The rotary cutting device can handle leaves and other debris in states ranging from dry and fluffy to frozen and snow-covered. The tractor and/or additional brushes may be used for preliminary piles sizing and positioning. Brushes may also be added to the machine for additional cleaning action and to help part wide piles.

A bagging lawn mower includes a mower blade housing having a discharge outlet, and a material-conveying duct has one end connected for receiving material from the housing and another end connected for depositing conveyed material into the top of a receptacle. The conveyance of material through the duct is assisted by a blower having an inlet coupled for drawing air in from the receptacle and having an outlet coupled to an air duct having an outlet nozzle located in the material-conveying duct at a location just upstream from the housing outlet and operative to cause a vacuum to be created which effects the induction of air from the housing.

Lawn mower bagging system including air assist

A manually shiftable actuator-position input member and an actuator-operator feedback member cooperate as switch means for controlling the operation of an actuator including a rod connected to be reciprocably driven by a reversible electric motor. The input and feedback members normally occupy neutral positions relative to each other wherein electrical current is disconnected from the motor. Energization of the motor to cause it to drive in the forward and reverse directions may respectively be accomplished by moving the input member in opposite first and second directions from its neutral position. The distance through which the input member is moved preselects the distance through which the motor drives the rod, the motor driving the feedback member via the rod such as to restore the neutral positions of the input and feedback members when the rod has been driven to the preselected position.
