The present invention relates to a monitoring method and a monitoring apparatus using a camera. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a monitoring method using a camera includes receiving a photographed input image from the camera; detecting an object existing in the input image and positional information of the object; generating a corrected image by correcting a distorted area of the input image; and generating a synthesized image by synthesizing alarm display information which is generated on the basis of the object and the positional information, with the corrected image, and outputting the synthesized image through a display.

Monitoring method and apparatus using a camera

A plasma display device (PDP) and method of driving it (during an address period) are provided. Such a PDP has an address electrode for receiving an address pulse and a capacitor. Such an address pulse has states including a first voltage and a smaller second voltage smaller. Such a capacitor stores a third voltage that is between the first and third voltages. Such a method includes: coupling the capacitor to the address electrode via the inductor; firstly energizing, via the inductor, the address electrode with the third voltage stored in the capacitor; secondly energizing the address electrode with the first voltage; thirdly energizing, via the inductor, the capacitor with voltage on the address electrode; and fourthly energizing the address electrode with the second voltage. Real power transfer during the first and third energizations is facilitated via reactive power transfer arising from LC resonance.

A plasma display device determining whether to perform power recovery in address and sustain periods of each subfield according to the temperature of a plasma display panel. When the temperature is outside of a predetermined temperature range, the address voltage is applied by hard switching to the third electrode in order to select the discharge cell to be displayed among the discharge cells in the address period. The sustain discharge pulse voltage is applied by the hard switching to the first and second electrodes in a first group of the sustain period, the sustain period being divided into at least two groups. The sustain discharge pulse voltage is applied by inductor-capacitor resonance of a power recovery circuit to the first and second electrodes in a second group of the sustain period.

A PDP address data processor, a method thereof, and a recording medium for storing a program used to perform the method. The address data processor generates subfield data corresponding to RGB input video data, divides them into two sets of subfield data, and stores them in a frame memory using rising and falling edges of a reference clock signal of a frame memory. The address data processor reads and arranges the stored subfield data using the rising and falling edges to generate address data for representing gray on the PDP. The address data processor uses an RGB mixing algorithm for selecting two different video data from among the RGB input video data to select video data, and generates the subfield data corresponding to the selected video data.

A plasma display panel is provided having a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes formed parallel to each other in pairs on a first substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes formed on a second substrate that cross the plurality of first and second electrode pairs. A reset waveform is applied to a scan electrode during a reset period, and a scan pulse that falls from a first voltage level to a second voltage level is applied to the can electrode during an address period. A pre-scan pulse of a third voltage level, which is higher than the first voltage level, is applied to a scan electrode between the reset and address periods, and either a magnitude of the third voltage level or a width of the pre-scan pulse is adjusted according to patterns of subfield data.

A plasma display device. A plasma display panel includes a plurality of address electrodes, a plurality of scan electrodes, and a plurality of sustain electrodes. A temperature detector detects a temperature of the plasma display panel. A controller outputs a scan electrode driving signal to control a reset waveform to be applied during reset periods of a first number of subfields when the detected temperature between a first temperature and a second temperature, and to control a reset waveform to be applied during reset periods of a second number of subfields when the detected temperature is lower than the first temperature and higher than the second temperature. The second number of subfields is greater than the first number of subfields. A scan electrode driver applies the appropriate reset waveform during a reset period of a subfield according to the scan electrode driving signal output from the controller.
