An optical disc includes a plurality of recording layers, each layer having a lead-in area, a data area, and a lead-out area. A dedicated-reproducing area having a disc-related information zone, and a rewritable area are provided in at least one of the lead-in and lead-out areas of the optical disc. Accordingly, a reliability of a data recording/reproducing with respect to the optical disc is improved.

Optical disc having a plurality of recording layers, and recording method and reproducing method therefor

A hub-mounted optical disk to eliminate the need for a separate stack ring while decreasing the overall height, a method of fabricating the optical disk, and an injection molding die for manufacturing an optical disk substrate. The hub-mounted optical disk includes a substrate having a hollow and an indented portion engraved to a predetermined depth on the inside of a non-recording surface where no information is recorded; and a hub including a plate that has a fitting hole therein and is engaged into the hollow and the indented portion and a central ring that is inserted into the fitting hole. A method of manufacturing an optical disc includes easily removing a bump formed on a circumference of the optical disc during forming a transparent layer by using a spin-coating method to form the optical disk having a high-density recording capacity. The method includes preparing a substrate having a diameter larger than that of a desired disc, applying an ultraviolet hardening resin to the substrate and forming a transparent layer having a predetermined thickness by a spin-coating method, illuminating an ultraviolet ray on the transparent layer and a bump formed on a circumference of the transparent layer to be hardened, and cutting out the bump by using a puncher. According to the method, the bump which inevitably occurs when the transparent layer is formed, can be easily cut out by a puncher.

The disks are superior in mechanical properties and reliability. As for reliability, the present optical disk is prepared without using a bonding process, which overcomes the problem of adhesive out-flow. The presence of only one integral substrate brings about an increased data storage density, twice as much per substrate, while contributing to the lightness of disk and accompanied by various effects including reduction in access time, saving of the bonding process and time in the spin coating, and cost reduction.
