A cleaning apparatus for a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the grain pan and chaffer sieve are mounted for pivotal leveling movement about both a transversely extending axis and a longitudinally extending axis. The grain pan and chaffer sieve are mounted in a subframe pivotally supported by a shaker shoe such that the subframe is pivotable about a longitudinally extending axis relative to the shaker shoe, which in turn is pivotally supported on the combine main frame for pivotal movement about a transversely extending axis. A pair of inclinometers disposed to sense the inclination of the combine are utilized to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to hydraulic actuators arranged to pivotally move the shaker shoe and the subframe in response to a sensing of a non-horizontal inclination by the inclinometers. A combination of the fore-and-aft and transverse pivotal movements permits the grain pan and chaffer sieve to be maintained in an overall horizontal orientation irrespective of the attitude of the combine main frame.

Four way leveling mechanism for combine cleaning apparatus

A cleaning apparatus for a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the grain pan and sieves are mounted in a shaker shoe pivotally supported on the main frame of the combine for movement about a transversely extending axis. Hydraulic actuators interconnecting the main frame and the shaker shoe affect a pivotal movement of the shaker shoe to level the cleaning apparatus under conditions where the combine has an inclined fore-and-aft orientation. An inclinometer is utilized to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic actuators to permit the shaker shoe to be leveled in response to a sensing of a non-horizontal fore-and-aft inclination by the inclinometer.

Fore-and-aft leveling mechanism for combine cleaning apparatus

A machine to form compact rolls of hay of substantial size by picking up a swath or windrow of hay and the like from a field, engage it by cooperating upper and lower endless flexible aprons driven in suitable direction to coil the hay into a compact roll while supported upon floor means mounted stationarily in the bottom of the machine to effect baling of all the hay without loss upon the ground. When the roll type bale of hay reaches a predetermined diameter, the upper apron raises to stop driving the same and provide an exit and the lower apron assists in ejecting the bale onto the ground, or the machine can transport it to a desired location for discharge, if desired. The upper apron initially is in contracted position and means are included to provide tension upon the upper conveyor to resist expansion of the same around part of the roll as the diameter thereof increases, said tensioning means also are such as to provide substantially uniform pressure upon the roll as it increases in size.

Hay roll forming machine

A corn harvester header attachable to a forage harvester and provided with a plurality of shield units spaced apart to form passage ways to receive corn stalks and including endless flexible means respectively on each side of said passage to positively feed corn stalks along said passage relative to a narrow slot formed by opposed stripping members which accommodate the stalks but prevent the ears from passing therethrough, and a pair of stalk rolls extending longitudinally below said slot at opposite sides thereof and rotated in opposite directions in a manner to pull said stalk, downward through said slot and thereby strip the ears from said stalk. The present invention concerns the shape of elongated flutes which are attached to the stalk rolls for improved engagement of the stalks thereby.
