A low dropout (LDO) device with improved linear mode comprising an error amplifier, a programmable attenuation factor circuit coupled to said error amplifier, a feedback network whose input is electrically connected to said programmable attenuation factor circuit and whose output is electrically coupled to the negative input of said error amplifier, a high side (HS) pre-drive circuit whose input is a high impedance (HiZ) mode signal, a low side (LS) pre-drive circuit whose input is a low pull-down input mode signal, a high side (HS) output stage element electrically coupled to said high side (HS) pre-drive circuit, a low side (LS) output stage element electrically coupled to said low side (LS) pre-drive circuit, and a high side sense (HSENSE) output stage element whose gate is electrically coupled to said high side (HS) pre-drive circuit, and whose gate and source are electrically connected to the output of said error amplifier.

Method and apparatus for DC-DC converter with boost/low dropout (LDO) mode control

A level shifter does not require any DC (standby) current consumption and has a fast operation with low propagation delay. The level shifting from input to output voltage ranges is performed by a pair of level shifting capacitors. The input-output power voltages domains are unrestricted and flexible. DC isolation is deployed between power domains. Symmetrical rise/fall times are without duty cycle distortion. Over voltage stress is reduced by using metal capacitors. Finally the level shifter does not use high-voltage devices for level shifting purpose. Embodiments of level shifters provide one-way level shifting and bi-directional level shifting.

Dynamic level shifter circuit

Automatic and robust anti-shoot-through glitch-free operation of half-bridge control pre-driver and power stage circuits have been achieved by using multiple feedback control signals. These feedback signals are taken both from the gates of power devices on high side and low sides and from the gates of one or more devices on both high side and low side that enable power device ON state. No duty cycle limitation is required of the input signal. The control logic uses NAND/NOR RS latches. The solution disclosed can readily be scaled to higher order of feedback loops providing even greater level of robustness.

Anti-shoot-through automatic multiple feedback gate drive control circuit

Circuits and methods for over-current protection of pulse-width modulation systems such as switch mode class D audio systems, DC-to-DC converters, or switch mode power supplies have been disclosed. Over-current protection has been achieved by introducing supply-scalable pulses to bring the modulation index of PWM pulses to a safe level. Additionally to the over-current protection a recovery circuit and method to be applied right after an over-current situation has been disclosed.

Over-current protection for a switch mode class D audio amplifier

Systems and methods for switched-mode amplifiers having improved harmonic distortion are disclosed. High order in-band filtering is enabled without undue trade-off of distortion due to intermodulation/aliasing. A pre-modulation block is introduced, deployed between a loop filter block and a pulse-width modulation block, performing uniform pulse-width modulation. The pre-modulation block attenuates/removes amplitude dependent high frequency ripples before pulse-width modulation. The pre-modulation block in conjunction with the pulse-width modulation block performs double sampling of the input signals.

Concept, method and apparatus of improved distortion switched-mode amplifier

A circuit and a method are provided for suppressing the pop and click noise during the power on and power off of Class D amplifiers. The technique also suppresses pops and clicks when the Class D amplifier enters or exits standby mode. A duplicate feedback network is used to establish the stable operating points, including offsets in the Class D circuit without turning on the outputs. The technique works by gradually propagating or dissipating the offset through the signal path of a Class D amplifier by swapping the differential outputs using switches to suppress pops and clicks when starting up and shutting down the amplifier.
