Methods of subterranean carbon dioxide storage may include: introducing, through an injection wellbore to a subterranean formation includes a basaltic formation, a carbonated aqueous fluid; reacting the carbon dioxide or an ion thereof with the basaltic formation to form mineralized carbon and a produced aqueous fluid; flowing a mixture of the carbonated aqueous fluid and/or the produced aqueous fluid through one or more formation fractures; depositing the mineralized carbon dioxide within the subterranean formation; and flowing the produced aqueous fluid from the subterranean formation through a first production wellbore, wherein a portion of the first production wellbore is substantially parallel to a portion of the injection wellbore, and wherein the one or more formation fractures are substantially perpendicular to a portion of the injection wellbore and a portion of the first production wellbore.

Methods and systems for hybrid frac completion include installing a hybrid completion system in a well and, in each zone of a first plurality of zones for plug & perf completion: activating an outer shroud of expanding shape memory polymer (SMP) around a liner, and perforating, using a perforation gun, a borehole wall. The methods further include, in each zone of the second plurality of zones for sliding sleeve completion: activating an SMP packer, and activating a sliding sleeve to expose the borehole wall. The methods further include fracturing the borehole wall by pressurizing the well; sealing, between each zone in the first and second plurality of zones, by actuating a plurality of isolation valves disposed in each zone of the first plurality of zones and each zone of the second plurality of zones; and removing the plurality of isolation valves to produce the well.

Hybrid frac completion

A method of thermally shocking a subsurface formation may comprise introducing an endothermic fluid composition into a wellbore fluidly connected to the subsurface formation, the endothermic fluid composition comprising an aqueous solution, ammonium chloride, and sodium hydroxide; reacting the ammonium chloride and sodium hydroxide, thereby decreasing a temperature of the endothermic fluid and producing ammonia; and exposing the reacted endothermic fluid composition to the subsurface formation, thereby thermally shocking at least a portion of the subsurface formation and inducing one or more fractures in the same.

Methods and compositions for thermally shocking subsurface formations

Methods and systems are disclosed. The method may include obtaining, using a rock characterization system, a plurality of characteristics for a rock penetrated by a wellbore, and determining, using a model of poroelasticity and the plurality of characteristics, a preferred ultrasonic frequency at which to insonify the rock. The method may further include deploying an ultrasonic stimulation tool in the wellbore, where the ultrasonic stimulation tool comprises at least one ultrasonic transducer, and activating the ultrasonic stimulation tool at the preferred ultrasonic frequency.

The method further involves comparing the change of the future vs the current smoothed production rate against a first pre-specified threshold production rate derivative, comparing the change of the future vs the current smoothed wellhead pressure against a first pre-specified threshold wellhead pressure derivative, and based on an outcome of the comparison, determining whether future sanding is detected.

Method and system for detecting and predicting sanding and sand screen deformation

A well system includes a wellbore extending from a wellhead and penetrating a producible reservoir and a downhole assembly extendable into the wellbore and including a laser component operable to emit a laser beam into the producible reservoir to induce a first plurality of micro-fractures extending radially outward from the wellbore. The downhole assembly includes a stimulation tool that includes an acoustic component including one or more acoustic generators operable to generate and propagate acoustic waves into the producible reservoir and thereby induce a second plurality of micro-fractures extending radially outward from the wellbore, and one or more acoustic receivers operable to detect and receive reflected acoustic waves returned back from the producible reservoir. The downhole assembly includes a fluid sampling component operable to extract fluid samples from the wellbore at locations radially adjacent the producible reservoir wherein data related to the reflected acoustic waves and the fluid samples is analyzed to characterize the first and second pluralities of micro-fractures.

Enhanced deep micro-fracturing tool using laser beams and acoustic waves

A method of treating kerogen is provided. The method includes: generating a fracture network in a subterranean formation including kerogen by injecting a treatment fluid through a wellbore into the subterranean formation, the treatment fluid including water, an oxidant, and nanoparticles, the treatment fluid oxidizing a portion of the kerogen in the subterranean formation while generating the fracture network; and injecting carbon dioxide (CO) through the wellbore into the subterranean formation, the CO2 penetrating the subterranean formation through the facture network.

Hydraulic treatment of subterranean formations using oxidant, nanoparticles, and carbon dioxide

A method of increasing hydrocarbon recovery from a wellbore penetrating a tight hydrocarbon formation is disclosed. The method involves inserting a hydro-jetting tool into the wellbore; jetting a thermally controlled fluid against the wall of the wellbore to create a cavity in the wall, using the hydro-jetting tool; injecting, using the hydro-jetting tool, a further amount of the thermally controlled fluid into the wellbore such that the pressure in the wellbore increases, wherein the increased pressure creates a fracture from the cavity, wherein injecting the further amount of the thermally controlled fluid cools the tight hydrocarbon formation surrounding the cavity by circulating the thermally controlled fluid within the cavity; withdrawing the hydro-jetting tool from the wellbore; and recovering the thermally controlled fluid and the hydrocarbons escaped from the fracture in the formation.

A method for improving oil and gas well productivity includes introducing a lubricating agent into a microfracture in a subterranean formation, coating at least a portion of a first surface and a second surface of the microfracture with the lubricating agent to produce a coated microfracture; and, providing a sufficient time for the coated microfracture to close. The introducing, the coating and the providing cause the first surface and the second surface of the coated microfracture to misalign after the closure of the coated microfracture and an opening to form between the first surface and the second surface. An encapsulated lubricating agent includes 30 to 50 wt % of a lubricating agent, and 50 to 70 wt % of an encapsulant encapsulating at least a portion of the lubricating agent.

Devices, methods, and systems for carbon dioxide (CO) sequestration using a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) aerogel, having a monolithic structure. The monolithic structure includes an aerogel matrix, a plurality of crosslinked CNFs, and a plurality of cellulose nanocrystal acetone (a-CNC) suspension particles, where the plurality of crosslinked CNFs and the plurality of a-CNC suspension particles are dispersed throughout the aerogel matrix. Systems and methods for COsequestration include locating a COproducing process, separating, using a first membrane system, a feed stream into a mixed solid and liquid stream and a first gas stream and separating, using a second membrane system, the first gas stream to produce a second gas stream and a COrich stream. Systems and methods further include directing the COrich stream to a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) aerogel unit and adsorbing COfrom the COrich stream.

A well tool for generating a notch in an open-hole wellbore, includes a tool body having a housing defining at least one slot and an interior volume. The tool body includes a cutting device disposed in the interior volume, configured to form a notch in a formation. The cutting device includes a shaft disposed in the interior volume of the housing having a first portion with a first exterior threads that extend around the first portion in a first direction, and a second portion having second exterior threads that extend around the second portion in a second direction opposite the first direction. The cutting device includes multiple blades configured to extend radially outward toward the formation through the slot or inward away from the formation and having a first blade extending from the first portion of the shaft and a second blade extending from a second portion of the shaft.

Wellbore notching assembly

A method for reducing breakdown pressure at a formation includes detecting a tight reservoir formation in a well and providing hydraulic fracturing equipment assembled together as a hydraulic fracturing system at a surface of the well. The hydraulic fracturing system includes a fluid source containing a base fluid and fluidly connected to a blender and a pump and manifold system fluidly connecting an outlet of the blender to a wellhead of the well. The method further includes connecting a cooling system to the hydraulic fracturing system, using the cooling system to cool the base fluid to a cooled base temperature upstream of the pump and manifold system, pumping the cooled base fluid down the well to the tight reservoir formation, and using the cooled base fluid to lower a temperature of the tight reservoir formation and reduce a breakdown pressure of the tight reservoir formation.
