An arc resistant system includes an enclosure that houses electrical equipment and includes an intake isolation assembly configured to deform in response to an arc fault pressure wave to substantially block an intake ventilation opening of the enclosure. The enclosure also includes a first pressure relief assembly configured to open in response to the arc fault pressure wave to allow arc products to exit the enclosure and to enter a ventilation box. The ventilation box is coupled to the enclosure and includes an exhaust isolation assembly configured to deform in response to the arc fault pressure wave to substantially block an exhaust ventilation opening of the ventilation box. The ventilation box also includes a second pressure relief assembly configured to open in response to the arc fault pressure wave to allow the arc products to exit the ventilation box.

System and method for ventilating and isolating electrical equipment

According to various embodiments, a system includes a power center or other electrical system. The system includes an enclosure having a ventilation opening and an isolation assembly. The isolation assembly includes a deformable portion and a blocking portion. The blocking portion is capable of substantially blocking the ventilation opening with a blocking surface. The deformable portion is configured to deform due to a level of pressure being applied to the isolation assembly such that the deformable portion plastically deforms and carries the blocking surface toward the ventilation opening.

An apparatus and method for supporting a plurality of components, at least one of which is a heat-generating electrical device such as a power semiconductor device, are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a first structure having a first surface on one side of the structure configured for interfacing a first of the plurality of components and a second surface on another side of the structure, and also includes a second structure capable of receiving the first structure, where one of the second surface and an additional surface of the second structure includes a tip that is in contact with the other of those surfaces. The apparatus further includes at least one component configured to assist in retaining the first and second structures relative to one another, where notwithstanding the at least one component the first structure is capable of pivoting relative to the second structure about the tip.

System and method for supporting one or more heat-generating electrical devices

Protective door systems are presented for equipment enclosures in which an inner door is provided to resist outward opening pressures by facing or abutting one or more interior surfaces of an enclosure opening, with an optional outer panel covering the enclosure opening from the outside, where a closure mechanism is operated by an externally rotatable handle to initially back the inner door away from the enclosure front side and then to move the inner door upward at an angle to effectively clear two edges of the opening to allow pivoting of the inner door to an open position extending partially outside the enclosure opening.

Protective door system for enclosures resistant to high internal pressures

A system and method are provided for cooling exhaust from a power center, such as in the event of an arc fault. In one embodiment, a system is provided that includes a power center having an enclosure, an exhaust duct coupled to the enclosure, and a phase change material disposed in the enclosure, the exhaust duct, or both, wherein the phase change material is configured to rapidly cool exhaust in response to a high temperature in the enclosure. A method is provided that includes cooling an exhaust at a high temperature from a power center by changing phase of a phase change material from a solid to a vapor. Another method is provided that includes providing a phase change material configured to cool an exhaust at a high temperature from a power center by changing phase from a solid to a vapor.
