The invention comprises polymers which have been functionalized so as to be able to chemically react with polyamines to form adducts containing at least one or more groups consisting of amino, amido, imino, imido, or imidazloyl. Furthermore, the invention teaches processes to prepare these adducts by solution, melt or in-situ methods. A further embodiment of the invention pertains to the use of polyolefin plastomers or elastomers, elastomeric polyethylene-polypropylene, compositions or interpolymers of styrene-&agr; olefins, which have been chemically modified so that they react with polyamines to confer to asphalt significantly improved desired chemical and physical properties.

Linear, polymeric biguanides or salts thereof wherein the polymeric chain is terminated at the cyanoguanidine end group by a C.sub.2 -C.sub.90 primary or secondary amine which is optionally substituted with a functionality such as fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, nitro, hydroxyl, ether, sulfide, disulfide, sulfoxide or sulfone. The polymeric biguanides have a high level of biocidal activity accompanied by a low level of toxicity to host organisms and are therefore useful in bactericidal, algicidal and fungicidal compositions, especially in ophthalmic compositions.

An improved method of pothole repair is described wherein the bond between the pothole area and the asphaltic patch repair material is significantly improved. The method is characterized by applying an aqueous solution of a water soluble acid salt of a fatty amine, amido-amine polyamine or cyclic amine to the pothole area before adding the patch material to the cavity.

An anti-microbial composition comprises an aqueous solution of a germicidal polymeric nitrogen compound and an oxidizing agent which potentiates the activity of the compound. The polymeric nitrogen compound includes a germicidal quaternary ammonium compound or a polyguanide compound. The oxidizing agent has a standard reduction potential between 0.85 and 2.0 volts, is soluble in water, non-toxic and enhances the activity germicidal of the nitrogen polymer at low concentrations. Suitable oxidizing agents include halogen oxides, oxyhalogens, halogens, and inorganic and organic peroxides.

An anti-microbial composition is provided comprising an aqueous solution of an oxyhalogen compound and a polymeric germicide. The oxyhalogen compound is preferably stabilized chlorine dioxide and the polymeric germicide is preferably a quaternary ammonium compound such as a copolymer of at least one difunctional tertiary amine and a dihalo organic compound such as 1,4-dihalo-2-butene, a copolymer of at least one difunctional tertiary amine, at least one monofunctional tertiary amine and a dihalo organic compound such as 1,4-dihalo-2-butene, or a polyguanide such as hydrochloride salt of poly(hexamethylene biguanide). The anti-microbial composition thus formed is used for the treatment of soft contact lenses to disinfect the same with an optimum effect while minimizing the irritant possibilities thereof and also minimizing absorption of the composition into the porous and hydrophilic surfaces of soft contact lenses such that there is a minimal release of absorbed substances after treatment.

An elongated central shaft is provided at one end with a hook for supporting thereon a hanger for a garment contained thereon. The other end of the central elongated shaft is connected to a mounting element which mounts the arrangement on an apparatus for bagging garments. The elongated shaft has mounted thereabout a spreader unit which is hinged at its ends thereof so that, as a bag is pulled down from an apparatus for bagging garments, the spreader unit positioned about the central elongated shaft will cause the leading end of the bag to open up and thereby avoid contact with the hook and the central elongated shaft.

Floating hook arrangement for an apparatus for bagging garments

An elongated central shaft is provided at one end with a hook for supporting thereon a hanger for a garment. The other end of the central elongated shaft is connected to a mounting element which mounts the arrangement on an apparatus for bagging garments. The elongated shaft has mounted thereabout a compressible spreader unit which is hinged at its ends so that, as a bag is pulled down from an apparatus for bagging garments, the spreader unit positioned about the central elongated shaft will cause the bag to open and avoid contact with the hook and the central elongated shaft.

For a bagging device, there is provided a roll of polyethylene bags which are fed through a braking device and thence past spreading devices and a floating hook support, whereupon are engaged sequentially the hooks of hangers upon which garments or the like are supported. The bags are provided with indicia thereupon which can be detected by a detecting device to actuate the braking device so that the bags may be readily torn off before they seat on the respective garments being packaged.

Bags from a roll of polyethylene bags are fed through a braking device and thence past spreading devices and a floating hook support, whereupon are engaged sequentially the hooks of hangers upon which garments or the like are supported. The bags are provided with indicia which are detected by a detecting device to actuate the braking device so that the bags may be readily torn off before they seat on the respective garments being packaged. Provision is made for adjustments of the braking time so that the brake automatically releases after a fixed period of time thereby facilitating a drawing of the bags from the source for sequential bagging operations.

A bagging device is provided with a floor supported device having a roll of polyethylene bags thereon, which are fed through a braking device and thence a round spreading devices and a floating hook support, whereupon is engaged sequentially the hooks of hangers upon which garments or the like are supported. The bags are provided with indicia thereupon which are detected by a detecting device to actuate the braking device so that the bags may be readily torn off before they seat on the respective garments being packaged. Provision is made for adjustments of the braking time so that the brake automatically releases after a fixed period of time thereby facilitating a drawing of the bags from the source for sequential bagging operations.
