According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus for use in detecting malingering by a first subject in a test of physical and/or mental function of the first subject. The apparatus comprises a memory unit configured to store a plurality of models, each model identifies a respective set of physical and/or mental function tests from a plurality of different physical and/or mental function tests that can be used to detect malingering in a subject and that meets one or more possible user requirements for detecting malingering; and a processing unit configured to receive a user input from a user of the apparatus, the received user input indicating a user requirement for detecting malingering in the first subject; following receipt of an indication that the first subject may be malingering in one or more physical and/or mental function tests, retrieve, from the memory unit, the identity of a first set of physical and/or mental function tests for a model that meets the indicated user requirement; and output a control signal to a function testing device indicating the retrieved identity of the first set of physical and/or mental function tests such that the testing device provides the identified first set of physical and/or mental function tests to the first subject completion for completion.

Method and apparatus for use in detecting malingering by a first subject in tests of physical and/or mental function of the first subject

According to an aspect, there is provided a computer-implemented method for determining an indication of visual attention/motoric dysfunction of a subject and/or an indication of executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject during or following a test comprising a plurality of targets that are to be completed by the subject, the method comprising the steps of receiving information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets by the subject; determining a regression line for the subject based on the received information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets and information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets for a reference group of subjects; determining an indication of visual attention/motoric dysfunction of the subject based on a slope of the determined regression line and/or an indication of executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject based on an offset of the determined regression line; and outputting the indication of the visual attention/motoric dysfunction of the subject and/or the indication of the executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject.

A system and method are provided for use in the assessment of an attentional deficit. During the assessment, a test image is presented to a subject on a display. A camera image is obtained from a camera which is indicative of a geometric relation between the head of the subject and the display during the assessment. The camera image is analyzed to determine a deviation in the geometric relation between the head of the subject and the display from a reference geometric relation. Deviation data is then generated and output which is indicative of the deviation. Advantageous uses of the deviation data include providing visual feedback to the user, adjusting the test image, and taking the deviation into account when processing test data of the assessment. Advantageously, the need for a trained professional to be present during the assessment is reduced or avoided.

The invention relates to a system and a method for creating an ambient experience for a person, particularly for a patient to be examined in a medical imaging device having a bore into which a patient table can be moved. In a preferred embodiment, the system comprises a display () for displaying an image content such as a video for the relaxation of a patient, and an illumination device () for illuminating the surroundings with polarized light. Moreover, it comprises a viewing aid, particularly a pair of glasses (), that is designed to at least partially block light from the illumination device () while letting light from the display () pass. The viewing aid () may for example comprise a polarization filter () that lets linearly polarized light () from the display () pass while blocking light from the illumination device () that is polarized in a perpendicular direction. A patient on the patient table can thus view the display () without being disturbed by an illumination of the surroundings.

The user interface enables light characteristics of the lighting systemto be adjusted such as the light color emitted from a light sourceof the lighting system. The invention relates to a method and a system for reducing anxiety of patients before and during e.g. MR scanning examinations. The method is based on displaying images on walls () of the scanner room () so that when the patient enters the scanner room, then an image is displayed on a wall visible to the patient, e.g. a wall adjacent to the entry door (). When the patient is laying on the table () of the scanner () the projection of images is switched to another wall by reflecting the projected images using e.g. a mirror which is moved into the light rays emitted by an image projector.

The invention relates to a control system () for an ambient light environment in a room in a hospital environment. The control system is configured to time and synchronize light effects of the ambient light environment () in response to sensor signals (-) from patient location sensors () or other sensors () for detecting if a clinical instrument is activated, moved or taken into use or for detecting heart rate. Light effects may be used by the clinical personnel to improve quality and speed of the examination and to create a calming atmosphere for the patient. However, different light effects are required at different times and for different durations. Therefore, timing of the light effects relative to sensor signals may improve workflow and patient comfort.

Light control system for use within a hospital environment

A system and method for reducing anxiety of a patient during medical scanning in a medical scanner which may produce significant levels of acoustic noise. A processor or control unit receives a measure of variation in a parameter of the scanner noise during the medical scanning. The processor then generates outputs to audio and video playback units that present an audio-video scenery to the patient during the scanning in accordance with the measure of variation in the parameter of the scanner noise. An image object in the video imagery is linked to the audio signal, so as to distract the patient's attention away from the scanner noise. The audio-video scenery may be switched according to an estimated scanner noise level. An effective distraction of the patient is obtained with a limited audio signal level which is far lower than the scanner noise.

A display device and a method for driving the display device is disclosed.
