A system, method, and article of manufacture for controlling home network devices using a multicast enabled remote control. The system includes a plurality of home network devices capable of receiving and/or transmitting multicast input and/or output signals and a home gateway to receive audio/video signals generated outside of the home and to transform the audio/video signals into multicast output signals. The system also includes a multicast enabled remote control to detect, aggregate, store and display all audio/video multicast output signals on the multicast enabled remote control, to enable a user to redirect an audio/video multicast output signal to one or more of the plurality of home network devices capable of receiving multicast input signals, and to control the plurality of home network devices capable of receiving and/or transmitting multicast input and/or output signals. System and method for controlling home network devices using multicast enabled remote controls

A data processing system features a hardware trusted platform module (TPM), and a virtual TPM (vTPM) manager. When executed, the vTPM manager detects a first request from a service virtual machine (VM) in the processing system, the first request to involve access to the hardware TPM (hTPM). In response, the vTPM manager automatically determines whether the first request should be allowed, based on filter rules identifying allowed or disallowed operations for the hTPM. The vTPM manager may also detect a second request to involve access to a software TPM (sTPM) in the processing system. In response, the vTPM manager may automatically determine whether the second request should be allowed, based on a second filter list identifying allowed or disallowed operations for the sTPM. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Methods and apparatus supporting access to physical and virtual trusted platform modules

A data processing system isolates a virtual trusted platform module (vTPM) manager in the processing system from other management software in the processing system. In one example process, the processing system launches a virtual machine monitor (VMM) that includes a memory-mapped input/output (MMIO) trap. The processing system also launches a vTPM manager in a first virtual machine (VM). In addition, the processing system launches a second VM to contain virtual machine management programs other than the vTPM manager and the MMIO trap. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Methods and apparatus for creating an isolated partition for a virtual trusted platform module

The system includes a plurality of home network devices capable of receiving and/or transmitting multicast input and/or output signals and a home gateway to receive audio/video signals generated outside of the home and to transform the audio/video signals into multicast output signals. An apparatus and method for UPnP device code generation using XML are described. The method includes receiving a UPnP device description document from a device developer. Once received, one or more service control class files are generated, including one or more service control stub-methods. Next, the service control class files are received, including updated service control stub-methods. The updated stub-methods are modified by the device developer in order to respond to actions received by a UPnP device described by the UPnP device description document. Finally, the service control class files and the updated service control stub-methods, along with a device class library and a UPnP SDK are compiled to generate a device executable for the UPnP device described by the UPnP device description document.

Apparatus and method for UPnP device code generation using XML

A system includes a first network device which receives a request for configuration information, a second network device, and a third network device which issues the request. The first network device is configured to respond to the request within a first time period and the second network device is configured to respond to the request within a second time period if the first network device does not respond to the request within the first time period.
