A client device uses a hostname-based feature mapping table. A randomized MAC address and a hostname of the client device is obtained from the memory of the client device. A user interface receives a selection. to indicate the hostname is to be changed to a new hostname. The client device is associated with a network access device when the new hostname is determined to be unique. A list of features and associated rules are displayed in the user interface for associating with the new hostname. Features and associated rules are selected from the list to link to the new hostname. A feature mapping table is presented in the user interface to show the features and associated rules linked to the new hostname.

As network resources of a network continue to be stretched due to a variety of users and numerous network devices connected to the network, there is a need to provide management of the network resources to optimize access to the network and to provide enhanced QoE for each user of the network without diminishing a particular user's experience. A throttling management application can provide for throttling one or more requests for an asset associated with one or more network devices. A request can be throttled so as to bump higher priority requests in a queue ahead of other network requests based on a throttling factor. The throttling factor can be associated with a throttling management profile that provides a priority to certain requests of certain network devices without delaying requests from other network devices.

To prevent unauthorized access to a network feature, multiple levels of authentication are required by utilizing a biometric authentication application that can verify access based on an authentication configuration that, for example, includes biometric data associated with a user. Requiring additional authentication to one or more network features or settings while allowing one or more other network features or settings to have less authentication provides a quality of experience for every user with access to the application while maintaining enhanced security to those network features that may be key/sensitive or require additional security. A system and method are provided for a network device for use with a client device having a hostname and a MAC address. The network device contains a memory that has a second hostname and a second MAC address stored within the memory. The second MAC address corresponds to the second hostname. The memory also contains a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory to cause the network device to: receive, from the client device, the hostname and the MAC address; determine whether the MAC address is randomized; provide an instruction to the client device to inform a user of the client device that the client device hostname is registered when the hostname matches the second hostname and the MAC address is randomized.

The client device further transmits, when the configurable parameter of the wireless network matches a configurable critical parameter of the wireless network within the list of configurable critical parameters of the wireless network, the request for the OTP. The client device may also receive the notification of the OTP from the external server and access the OTP based on the notification and may transmit the OTP to the network controller.
