They include receiving instructions to retrieve an electronic document and processing the electronic document in a sample print mode. The electronic document are arranged in a plurality of page with each page containing readable information. They further include identifying a subset of pages of the electronic document to print in a first phase of the sample print mode and printing the subset of pages on a physical readable media in the sample print mode. They additionally include displaying a message on a user interface after completion of the first phase of the sample print mode and printing remaining pages of the electronic document on a physical readable media in response to user input based on the displayed message.

System and method for printing and reusing customized sample sets while printing documents

System(s) and method(s) for transferring print jobs from a multi-function device to an external storage device are described. The method includes detecting the external storage device by the multi-function device when the external storage device is connected to the multi-function device. The method further includes determining if there is a print job of a user in a print queue of the multi-function device and displaying an option to transfer the print job to the external storage device based on the determination. The method includes receiving an input from the user, the input is indicative of a selection of the option to transfer the print job. Also, the method includes automatically creating a pre-defined folder in the external storage device based on receiving the input and transferring the print job of the user from the print queue of the multi-function device to the pre-defined folder of the external storage device.

Methods and systems for print jobs transfer via an external storage device

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for selective translation of a language of a multi-function device, wherein the language of the multi-function device is a pre-defined language. The method includes receiving a print job from a user along with one or more job attributes, wherein at least one job attribute indicates a local language of the user. Then, the local language is identified from the at least one job attribute. One or more job specific user interfaces are identified. Based on the identified local language of the user, the identified one or more job specific user interfaces are translated in the local language of the user and stored. After this, an input from the user is received. Based on the input, at least one translated job specific user interface is displayed in the local language of the user.

Systems and methods for selective localization of a multi-function device

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for localizing a user interface of a multi-function device, based on a personal storage device of a user connected to the multi-function device, wherein the multi-function device presents a user interface in a pre-defined language. The method includes receiving the personal storage device by the multi-function device, the personal storage device includes a pre-defined setting, the pre-defined setting indicates a local language of the user. Upon receiving, the personal storage device is detected by the multi-function device. The local language of the user is detected based on the pre-defined setting stored in the personal storage device of the user. Upon detection, the pre-defined language of the user interface is automatically changed to the local language of the user.

Systems and methods for localizing a user interface based on pre-defined settings stored in a personal storage device

The disclosure discloses methods and systems for managing one or more incomplete jobs in a multi-function device. The method includes checking a stored profile of a user for a previously stored incomplete job when the user logs in into the multi-function device or a networked multi-function device. Based on the check, it is further checked if the previous incomplete job is compatible with configuration of the logged-in multi-function device. Then, based on the check, a user interface is presented with the previous incomplete job along with one or more options related to the previous incomplete job. The user is allowed to select an option of the one or more options, the one or more options allow the user to take an action related to the previous incomplete job. Finally, the previous incomplete job is executed in accordance with the selection.

A scanning device for automatically scanning and processing a document includes a port for communicating with a portable memory device, an image sensor, a processing device, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. The processing device is configured to detect a trigger event by detecting that the portable memory device is communicatively coupled to the port, automatically determine a scan instruction having at least one scan setting, determine whether the portable memory device includes one or more security instructions, determine whether biometric information associated with an authenticated user is available, identify the biometric information as a secure access token, automatically cause the image sensor to scan a physical document to generate a digital document file corresponding to the physical document based on the scan instruction, and save the digital document file to the portable memory device with the secure access token.

Method and apparatus for instant secure scanning of a document using biometric information

A scanning device for automatically scanning and processing a document includes at least a port for communicating with a portable memory device, an image sensor and a processing device. The scanning device may detect a trigger event by detecting that the portable memory device is communicatively coupled to the port. The scanning device may automatically determine a scan instruction, automatically cause the image sensor to scan a physical document based on the scan instruction, determine a secure access token, and save the digital document file to the portable memory device with the secure access token. The secure access token may be an encryption key that is associated with a log-in password of an authenticated user of the scanning device. The scanning device may obtain the encryption key from a storage medium of the scanning device or from a network.

The disclosure discloses methods and systems for localizing a user interface based on a personal device of a user. The method includes receiving a personal device by a multi-function device, the personal device stores one or more documents, the personal device is associated with a name and each document is associated with a name, wherein the name of the personal device and the name of each document indicate a local language of the user. Upon receiving, the personal device is detected by the multi-function device. Then, the name of the personal device and the name of each document are extracted and compared with one or more pre-stored language patterns to detect the local language of the user. Upon detection, the pre-defined language of the user interface is automatically changed to the local language of the user.

A print device has a port, a print engine, a processing device and a memory. The print device is configured to detect that a portable memory device has become communicatively connected to the port, retrieve a digital document file to be printed and a print instruction from the portable memory device, determine that a first print job is being performed in the print device, suspend the first print job, determine a second print job derived from the digital document file, and automatically perform the second print job based on the print instruction. The print device further detects that the second print job has been completed or interrupted, and automatically resumes the first print job. If the second print job is directed to the same output tray as the first print job, the print device may also print a separator sheet to the output tray before performing the second print job.

Method and apparatus for automatically processing job interruptions caused by a portable memory device in a print system

A print device that has a port, a print engine, a processing device and a memory. The print device is configured to detect that a portable memory device has become communicatively connected to the port, retrieve a digital document file to be printed and a print instruction from the portable memory device, determine that a first print job is being performed in the print device, determine a priority for the first print job and a priority for a second print job derived from the digital document file, and determine that the priority of the first print job is lower than that of the second print job. The print device is also configured to suspend performance of the first print job, automatically perform the second print job based on the print instruction, detect that the second print job has been completed or interrupted, and automatically resume the first print job.

Method and apparatus for automatically processing job interruptions caused by a portable memory device with priority handling capabilities

A document printing system may include one or more print devices, each is capable of detecting a portable memory device, and also detecting a document file and associated configuration file stored in the portable memory device, where the configuration file may contain information about an interruption of a print job associated with the document file. The interruption may have occurred previously on any of the print devices. Each print device may extract and use the information from the configuration file, to automatically resume the previously interrupted print job. Each print device may also be capable of detecting an interruption of a current print job and recording information about the interruption in the configuration file stored in the portable memory device. In some embodiments, the information about the interruption of the print job may include a page number, cause of the interruption and/or job attributes of the interrupted print job.

Method and apparatus for automatically resuming a print job from portable memory device

Devices and methods for managing print jobs on a printing device having a plurality of output media trays are disclosed. The method includes monitoring a print job in an active state, the print job is associated with a predetermined output media tray. The print job being switched from the active state to a held state is detected based on a status of at least one of a first set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions being negative for the print job. A new incoming print job received at the printing device is identified. A second set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions are determined for the new incoming print job. Finally, the printing device is triggered to print the new incoming print job for producing prints via an alternate output media tray while the print job is in the held state.

Systems and methods for print job management on a printing device

A system and method for automatically scanning a physical document and performing processing actions on the scanned document are provided. The system may include a scanning device that can detect a trigger event when a portable memory device is connected to or paired with the device or when a document, including one or multiple pages, is placed on the document handler of the device. Upon detecting the trigger event, the scanning device may retrieve scan instructions from a designated folder on the portable memory device, automatically scan the document on the document handler, and perform various processing actions on the digital document file for the scanned document based on the scan instructions, with little or no user interaction. The processing actions may include storing, faxing, emailing the scanned document. The instructions for each processing action may be stored at one of multiple designated folders of the portable memory device.

Method and apparatus for instant scanning and processing of a document

A print device for automatically printing a document file from a portable memory device may include a port, a print engine, and a processing device. The processing device may detect that a portable memory device has become communicatively connected to the port, then access a print history from a data store and retrieve a print instruction, use the print history to determine that a document file in a designated folder of the portable memory device has not been printed, and automatically print the document file using the print engine based on the print instruction. After printing, the device may further transmit a communication to the data store to update the print history to reflect that the document file is printed. The print device may be capable of detecting an interruption and allowing a user to resume the print job later on the same print device or on another device.
