Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for indicating a user equipment (UE) preferred paging carrier. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by a UE generally includes generating a cell measurement report, transmitting the cell measurement report to a network entity, transmitting, to the network entity, an indicator of a preferred paging carrier, and monitoring paging occasions (POs) in at least the preferred paging carrier.

A base-station (BS) receiving a random access request from user equipment (a UE), followed by a connection request. The connection request contains UE identity information which may have one of multiple formats depending on whether the access request and/or the connection request indicate that the UE is operating as a bandwidth-limited (BL) UE, an enhanced coverage (CE) UE, or a UE that operates in neither the BL mode nor the CE mode. In the BL mode, the UE may transmit a truncated identifier that is sufficient for the BS to retrieve capability information for the UE prior to transmitting a resource grant to the UE. The BS may then configure the UE and BS to using a radio configuration optimized for the UE's capabilities and transmit the resource grant in accordance with the optimized configuration.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes performing a mobility procedure to establish a connection in a target radio access technology (RAT) while maintaining a context established in a source RAT, wherein one of the source RAT or target RAT is a terrestrial network (TN) RAT and the other is a non-terrestrial network (NTN) RAT and sending a tracking area update (TAU) request after establishing the connection in the target RAT.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with a reference signal (RS) broadcast by a network. The UE may further measure a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) using a plurality of resource elements (REs) that do not include the RS and excluding REs that do include the RS. Accordingly, the UE may determine a reference signal received quality (RSRQ) associated with the RS based at least in part on the RSRP and the RSSI. Numerous other aspects are described.

Reference signal received quality for fully loaded reference signals

The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving a group wake-up signal (WUS) in conjunction with an ungrouped WUS. A base station may group one or more UEs in a UE group, while other UEs may not be assigned to a UE group. The configuration of WUS resources and WUS sequences for grouped UEs and other UEs is a challenge. The base station may transmit, to one or more UEs in the UE group, a resource allocation of a group WUS resource within a set of WUS resources associated with a paging occasion that is assigned to the one or more UEs in the UE group. A UE, after receiving the resource allocation, may determine a location of the group WUS resource within the set of WUS resources. The UE may monitor for a group WUS at the determined location in the resource allocation of the group WUS resource.

Configuration for ungrouped wake up signal and group wake up signal

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. that support preconfigured uplink resources (PUR) in wireless communications. A base station may communicate that support for PUR is available, and may allocate PUR resources to a user equipment (UE) based on requests from the UE. The UE may receive an indication that the base station supports PUR, such as via a system information block (SIB), determine to request PUR, and transmit a PUR request message to the base station. A PUR response from the base station may indicate configuration, or reconfiguration of PUR allocation for the UE that may be used for uplink transmissions, or release of the PUR allocation.

Preconfigured uplink resource techniques in wireless communications

A method for wireless communication includes validating a PUR configuration in a NTN based on location-related information associated with a satellite. For example, a UE may determine, based on location-related information of a satellite in a non-terrestrial network, whether a preconfigured uplink resource (PUR) configuration is valid. The UE may also transmit, to a base station (BS) via the satellite in response to determining that the PUR configuration is valid, a communication signal in a PUR. For example, the UE may determine, based on the location-related information associated with the satellite, if the parameter satisfies the threshold, and transmit UL data in a PUR occasion based on the determined parameter satisfying the threshold.

Preconfigured uplink resource (PUR) validation in non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. that support preconfigured uplink resources (PUR) in wireless communications. A base station may communicate that support for PUR is available, and may allocate PUR resources to a user equipment (UE) based on requests from the UE. The UE may receive an indication that the base station supports PUR, such as via a system information block (SIB), determine to request PUR, and transmit a PUR request message to the base station. A PUR response from the base station may indicate a PUR allocation for the UE that may be used for uplink transmissions. Uplink transmissions that use PUR may be acknowledged by the base station based on a QOS associated with the uplink transmissions.

Method and apparatus for an RRC reestablishment procedure between a TN and an NTN. The apparatus may be on a first network associated with one of the TN or the NTN. The apparatus transmits a RRC connection request to establish a connection with a second network associated with one of the NTN or the TN. The apparatus receives an RRC reconnection message from a network entity associated with the second network. The apparatus transmits an RRC reconnection complete message to the network entity associated with one of the NTN or the TN of the second network. The apparatus may transmit a registration update request to the network entity associated with one of the NTN or the TN of the second network.

RRC reestablishment between TN and NTN

A UE may include IoT NTN device, and the UE may acquire the GNSS location to perform the time/frequency pre-compensation. A NAS layer of the UE may initiate a connection request procedure based on the GNSS fix procedure at one or more lower layer of the UE. A network may transmit a paging request to the UE, and manage a paging response timer based on the GNSS fix procedure at the UE.

Location acquisition delay management

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a neighbor cell list that indicates at least one neighbor cell. The UE may perform a cell selection procedure or a cell reselection procedure to switch to a serving cell without receiving an updated neighbor cell list from the serving cell. A UE may receive, from at least one cell via at least one bit in a MIB or a SIB, a barring indication based on a supported network of the at least one cell and a supported network of the UE. The supported network of the at least one cell may correspond to a TN or an NTN, and the supported network of the UE may correspond to a TN or an NTN. The UE may skip, based on the received barring indication, a selection of the at least one cell for communication. Accordingly, the UE may not camp on the at least one cell. The barring indication for NTN-supporting UEs and for TN-supporting UEs may be separately indicated via the MIB or the SIB.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may select, while operating using a first beam corresponding to a cell, a second beam corresponding to the cell based at least in part on a set of beam information associated with the second beam, wherein a first narrowband is associated with the first beam and a second narrowband is associated with the second beam.
