An OLT transmits and receives a CMTS/CM apparatus control signal through an apparatus physical management interface which is physically identical to or different from a main signal interface (NNI) and processes the CMTS apparatus control signal by itself. When connection of a new ONU is detected by an ONU apparatus control signal, an IP address is allocated by using the CM apparatus control signal in a manner similar to the CM. The CM apparatus control signal regarding the ONU is transmitted and received by using the IP address and a mutual conversion is performed between the CM apparatus control signal and the ONU apparatus control signal. The ONU processes the ONU apparatus control signal in a manner similar to the ONU based on an ordinary PON standard.

Communication system using passive optical network and passive optical network

A packet forwarding apparatus for connecting a plurality of user terminals to an ISP management server has a management table indicating the relationship between a connection port identifier and specific header information in association with the MAC address of each of the user terminals so that, in a communication protocol procedure executed between each of the user terminals and the ISP management server prior to communication with a wide-area network, the packet forwarding apparatus discards a packet for the user terminal when it is determined that the specific header information cannot be assigned to the user terminal based on the management table.

Packet forwarding apparatus with function of limiting the number of user terminals to be connected to ISP

A MVAC spoofed frame or a loop frame generated by a user is prevented from obstructing communication and the source port ID of a fraud is reported to the network administrator. A MAC frame forwarding apparatus adds the input port ID and the source MAC address of a received frame. The MAC frame forwarding apparatus has a frame forwarding management table and a frame discarding management table. The frame discarding management table has a MAC address to be discarded, indicating a received frame to be discarded if the address matches the source MAC address of the received frame, a target port ID, and the number of discarded frames. A management apparatus discards a received frame if the source MAC address matches the MAC address to be discarded and counts the number of discarded frames. If the number of discarded frames exceeds a predetermined level, the port ID, the MAC address, and the number of discarded frames are reported to the management apparatus, and the source port of the fraud is reported to the administrator.

Frame forwarding apparatus

A BAS/load balancer which combines the functions of a BAS (Broadband Access Server) providing a dynamic network connection to a user network, and a load balancing relaying the communications traffic of the user network to one of plural load balancing target apparatuses, and which can apply an arbitrary load balancing algorithm. When the BAS/load balancer of the invention sets up a dynamic connection between the user networks, the balancer determines the load balancing target apparatus which is a relay destination using an arbitrary load balancing algorithm for both send and receive communications traffic in the user network.

Packet forwarding apparatus

Disclosed here is a communication apparatus and method for inter-AS routing, which enables policy routing between a stub AS and an upstream AS. The policy routing includes control which is applicable only between adjacent autonomous systems (AS's). When a subject communication apparatus notifies its own AS number or advertises attribute information that includes its own AS number to a stub AS, the communication apparatus does not use its own AS number or uses the AS number of the upstream autonomous system (AS) instead of its own AS number. In addition, when relaying routing information received from one AS to another, the subject communication apparatus also relays attribute information without discarding the information, although the information is conventionally not relayed to itself.

Communication apparatus and method for inter-AS routing

It is intended to achieve an arrangement wherein, when file information of shared disks which are distributed in a plurality of computers connected to a network are used, operating conditions at the time of accessing shared disks can be defined, thus enabling users to easily share files without being bothered by setting-up, or operations of computers located on the other side when they are to perform file sharing. In order to achieve the above-stated arrangement, a storage management integrated serveris provided in a network, and respective computers register conditions, an accessibility states and use types pertaining to shared volume to be offered to the server. Thereafter, when a certain computer is to make a file accessing to a shared volume, the computer makes an inquiry to the storage management integrated server for an adequate access destination, determines, on the basis of a response from the server, computers which are suitable to the access source, and makes direct accesses to such computers.
