[Problem to be solved] There is provided a process for producing an olefin polymer that is capable of producing an olefin polymer having high heat resistance and high molecular weight with excellent catalytic activity. [Solution to problem] The process for producing an olefin polymer includes a step of polymerizing at least one olefin selected from ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefins having 4 to 30 carbon atoms in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst containing a transition metal compound represented by the general formula [I], the olefin polymer including constituent units derived from ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefins having 4 to 30 carbon atoms in a total amount between more than 50 mol % and not more than 100 mol %,

[Problem to be solved] There is provided a process for producing an olefin polymer that is capable of producing an olefin polymer having high heat resistance and high molecular weight with excellent catalytic activity. [Solution to problem] The process for producing an olefin polymer includes a step of polymerizing at least one olefin selected from ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefins having 4 to 30 carbon atoms in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst containing a transition metal compound represented by the general formula [I], the olefin polymer including constituent units derived from ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefins having 4 to 30 carbon atoms in a total amount between more than 50 mol % and not more than 100 mol %,  [in the formula [I], R, Rand Rto Rare each independently a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or the like; Ris a hydrocarbon group or the like; Ris a hydrogen atom; M is a transition metal of Group IV; Q is a halogen atom or the like; and j is an integer of 1 to 4].

[Object] To provide transition metal compounds with excellent catalytic activity which can afford olefin polymers such as propylene polymers that have high stereoregularity and high molecular weight and may be easily crystallized into a &#x3b2;-phase. [Solution] The transition metal compound is represented by General Formula [I] or is an enantiomer thereof:

[Means to solve the problem] A process for preparing an organic alkali metal compound, which is characterized by adding a compound represented by the following formula (2) in the reaction of an active proton-containing compound represented by the following formula (1) with an alkali metal compound.RH&#x2003;&#x2003;(1) In the formula (1), R is a hydrocarbon group or an amino group and may contain a halogen atom, a silicon atom, an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom, H is an active proton, and p is the number of hydrogen atoms abstracted in the reaction with the alkali metal compound.  In the formula (2), Rto Rare each an atom or a group selected from a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a heteroatom-containing group and a silicon-containing group and may be the same as or different from each other, and the neighboring substituents may be bonded to each other to form a ring.

A novel olefin-based polymer has excellent thermal resistance, as well as excellent balance among various properties. The olefin-based polymer is an olefin-based polymer comprising 50 to 100% by weight of a constituent unit derived from 4-methyl-1-pentene, and 0 to 50% by weight of a constituent unit derived from at least one olefin selected from olefins having 2 to 20 carbon atoms except 4-methyl-1-pentene, and having the following properties: i) the diad isotacticity is 70% or greater, ii) the ratio (Mw/Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn) as measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is in the range of 1.0 to 3.5, and iii) the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] is 0.5 (dl/g) or greater.

A composition for making a high-refractive-index resin contains a polythiol compound and a compound containing at least two iso(thio)cyanato groups, the polythiol compound having a dithioacetal, dithioketal, orthotrithioformic ester, or orthotetrathiocarbonic ester skeleton.
