Arranged downstream of a particulate matter filter incorporated in an exhaust pipe is a PM sensor with a detection portion on which particulate matter is deposited to output a deposition amount of the particulate matter. An assumption condition is set for making an assumption that the particulate matter filter is in a reference condition having a predetermined particulate matter capturing capability. Under the assumption condition, a virtual output value is calculated depending on a virtual deposition amount of the particulate matter in the PM sensor. The particulate matter filter is determined to have fault when, upon reaching of the virtual output value to a predetermined determination threshold, an output of the PM sensor is not less than the determination threshold.

Particulate filter fault diagnosis method and device

Provided is a method for detecting abnormality of an after turbo catalyst (ATC) where fuel from a fuel injection device receiving a post injection command from a controller undergoes oxidation reaction in an exhaust pipe and resultant reaction heat heats the exhaust gas, which provides an ATC-entry-side temperature measuring means measuring a temperature on an entry side of ATC to transmit a measured value to the controller and an ATC-downstream-side temperature measuring means measuring a temperature downstream of ATC. The controller, which transmitted the post injection command, determines whether a fuel injection device normally operates if temperature downstream of ATC is not nonelevated to that on the entry side of ATC, and determines that ATC has abnormality if the fuel injection device normally operates.

Failure diagnosis device for exhaust brake

A device for determining a regeneration abnormality of a particulate filter has a temperature sensor detecting an exhaust temperature on an entry side of a particulate filter and a controller feedback controlling an injection amount of fuel to be added to a fuel addition valve to keep the exhaust temperature on the entry side of the particulate filter to a target regeneration temperature upon forced regeneration in a predetermined temperature range around the target regeneration temperature. The controller is configured to calculate the exhaust temperature on the entry side of the particulate filter based on the commanded injection amount to the fuel addition valve and detect any abnormality in feedback control based on deviation between the calculated exhaust temperature on the entry side of the particulate filter and the actually measured value by the temperature sensor.
