A graphical programming system (1) allows a user to visually create a program. The system employs and input unit (12) and a display (11). The system includes, for example, a graphic-component memory (3) storing graphic components each corresponding to a program that achieves a task such as an operation task or a database task, and displaying the graphic components on the display (11), a task memory (5) storing the programs corresponding to the graphic components and providing the graphic-component memory (3) with data obtained by executing the programs, and a graphic component generator (6) automatically generating data on the graphic components and storing the data in the graphic-component memory (3).

To permit a user to produce application programs easily, a plurality of object names and objects linkage information is specified as external specification data, the plurality of objects are related to each other based on linkage information stored in an objects linkage information storage, transmission and reception of data between the plurality of objects are controlled, and processes in which the plurality of objects constituting the application program are linked are executed.

An interactive programming system processing method configures an application by combining processes of a plurality of object-oriented components. An object-oriented component is configured by a controller part of an entity as an object of operation for defining a behavior against an external operation, a behavior definition part defines a process of the external operation and holds a result of the process of the external operation, and a view definition part defines a view by a graphic on a display screen. The result of the process obtained by the behavior definition part is acquired, the result of the process is transmitted to another object-oriented component linked with the object-oriented component, and the result of the process is displayed on the display screen in accordance with the definition of the view.
