A tiled display device includes a first display panel including a first display area and a first non-display area adjacent to the first display area, and a second display panel including a second display area and a second non-display area between the second display area and the first non-display area. The first display panel includes a first lower substrate, emitting diodes disposed on the first lower substrate and overlapping the first display area, a first upper substrate including a lower surface facing the first lower substrate, a first black matrix pattern disposed on the lower surface of the first upper substrate and overlapping the first non-display area, and a first photochromic matrix pattern disposed on the lower surface of the first upper substrate, overlapping the first non-display area, and transmitting light.

A display device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a third electrode, a lyophobic layer, a first liquid, and a second liquid, where the lyophobic layer is lyophobic to the second liquid. A method of driving the display device includes: providing a first potential difference between the first electrode and the third electrode to thereby cause the first liquid to begin moving toward the second electrode; providing a second potential difference between the second electrode and the third electrode while reducing the first potential difference to thereby cause the first liquid to move toward the first electrode; and removing the second potential difference to thereby cause the first liquid to slow down in its movement toward the first electrode or to stop in its movement toward the first electrode.

Electrowetting display device and driving method thereof

Disclosed is an electrowetting display device including a plurality pixels. Each pixel includes a pixel electrode, a hydrophobic layer, a hydrophobic fluid, and a bank adapted to limit the range of movement of the hydrophobic fluid. The bank has a hydrophobic bank surface and a hydrophilic bank surface, which face each other. The hydrophobic fluid is moved from the hydrophilic bank surface towards the hydrophobic bank surface by the application of a voltage to the pixel electrode.

Electrowetting display device having banks of different hydrophilicities and method for manufacturing the same

A light source module having a plurality of light source blocks corresponding to a plurality of display regions, a method for driving the light source module, and a display device having the light source module. The output brightness of each of the light source blocks is individually dimmed according to a dimming control signal. A dimming control unit determines the average gray level and inherent brightness of each of the respective display regions, calculates a threshold gray level of each display region by using its inherent brightness, outputs a fixed brightness as a dimming control signal when the average gray level of the display region is greater than the threshold gray level, and outputs a variable brightness based upon the inherent brightness value, as the dimming control signal when the average gray level of the display region is less than the threshold gray level.

The LCD includes a timing controller which receives a first image signal corresponding to a first frame frequency and outputs a second image signal corresponding to a second frame frequency; a liquid crystal panel which receives the second image signal and displays an image using the second frame frequency; and a plurality of light-emitting blocks which provide light to the liquid crystal panel, wherein the light-emitting blocks are divided into a plurality of light-emitting groups, each group including at least one of the light-emitting blocks, and, in a first operation mode, a frame, which corresponds to the second frame frequency, includes an off section in which at least one of the light-emitting groups is turned off.

A backlight unit of a liquid crystal display device supplies light to one or more corresponding pixels of a liquid crystal display panel. The backlight unit includes a plurality of blocks formed into a matrix shape. Each block includes a light emitting diode module. The blocks in a row of the matrix are driven by a same row driving signal and the blocks in a column of the matrix are driven by a same column driving signal, to adjust luminance of the light supplied to the corresponding pixels.

The fan-out unit includes: an insulating substrate; a first wiring layer which is formed on the insulating substrate and connected to a pad; a second wiring layer which is formed on the insulating substrate and connected to a TFT; and a resistance controller which is connected between the first wiring layer and the second wiring layer and includes a plurality of first resistors extending parallel to the first wiring layer and a plurality of second resistors extending perpendicular to the first resistors and alternately connecting to the first resistors, wherein the first resistors are longer than the second resistors.

A liquid crystal display includes a display panel, a first sensor, a light emitting unit, a second sensor and a controller. The first sensor is provided in the display panel to detect input light, which is incident from an exterior.
