Provided are ethylene-based copolymers, methods of preparing the same, lubricating oil compositions including the same, methods for preparing such lubricating oil compositions, and end uses for such ethylene-based copolymers and lubricating oil compositions. The ethylene-based copolymers may include from about 35 wt. % to about 60 wt. % of units derived from ethylene and at least 1.0 wt. % of one or more alpha-olefin comonomers having 3 to 20 carbon atoms. The ethylene-based copolymers are substantially amorphous and have a polydispersity index of about 2.8 or less.

This invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising a functionalized random propylene polymer (FRPP) having at least 0.1 wt % of a functional group, a heat of fusion of between 0.5 and 70 J/g, and an mm triad tacticity index of at least 75%, where the adhesive has a T-Peel adhesion on a polar substrate at 20&#xb0; C. of at least 175 N/m (1 lb/in) and a T-Peel adhesion on a non-polar substrate at 20&#xb0; C. of at least 175 N/m (1 lb/in) where the polarity of the polar substrate is at least 0.10 units higher than the polarity of the non-polar substrate. Methods to produce the adhesive and articles comprising the adhesive are also disclosed.

Functionalized propylene copolymer adhesive composition

Rubber blends of brominated isobutylene/para-methylstyrene copolymers of 9.5 to 20 weight percent aromatic monomer content and 0.2 to 1.0 mole percent benzylic bromine content. The blends have good cure characteristics, good adhesion and flex crack resistance, as well as ozone resistance. The blends are useful in tire sidewalls, and other applications.

A grafted and/or functionalized macromolecule comprises entanglement-inhibited architecture wherein the polymer exhibits reduced melt viscosity. In one embodiment, the macromolecule comprises a polymer of an isoolefin having about 4 to about 7 carbon atom and a para-alkylstyrene, wherein a grafted macromonomer such as a terminally functionalized polystyryl chain of very narrow molecular weight distribution is attached to the para-alkyl group of the para-alkylstyrene such that entanglement of adjacent chains in the melt are inhibited. In addition to distributed macromonomer grafts, other functionality may be attached to the para-alkyl group of the para-alkylstyrene to introduce other desirable properties such as radiation curability. In another embodiment the macromolecule comprises a polymer of one or more simple olefinic monomers wherein a macromolecule is attached to pendent functionality and/or copolymerized into the polymer backbone. A particularly preferred macromonomer comprises a terminal norbornene functional group.
