The present invention relates to a device, system and method for improved non-invasive and objective detection of pulse of a subject. The device comprises an input unit () configured to obtain a series of images of a skin region of the subject and a processing unit () for processing said series of images by detecting pulse-related motion of the skin within the skin region from the series of images, generating a motion map of the skin region from the detected pulse-related motion, comparing the generated motion map with an expected motion map of the skin region, and determining the presence of pulse within the skin region based on the comparison.

Device, system and method for detection of pulse of a subject

In a system and method for determining vital sign information of a subject the subject is illuminated with radiation, and radiation reflected from the subject is received. A region of interest is located in a first phase. Said illumination is controlled to locally illuminate, in a second phase, the located region of interest with radiation allowing determination of vital sign information. Finally, vital sign information of the subject is determined from the radiation reflected from said region of interest and detected in said second phase.

Device, method and computer program product for continuous monitoring of vital signs

In a device, system and method for determining the concentration of a substance, such as the oxygen saturation in the blood of a subject, the influence of specular reflection is reduced or removed. An input unit is configured to receive detection signals reflected back from a skin area of the subject in response to irradiation of the skin area by a radiation signal. A signal extraction unit is configured to extract at least two photo-plethysmography, PPG, signals at two different wavelengths from the detection signals. A processing unit is configured to compute the concentration of a selected substance in the blood of the subject based on the PPG signals taking into account a skin tone of the subject.

Device, system and method for determining the concentration of a substance in the blood of a subject

An apparatus for detecting when a subject has exited an item of furniture is provided. The apparatus comprises a camera adapted to be arranged, when in use, below the underside of an item of furniture having an upper side for supporting a subject, the underside being opposite to the upper side, and a processing unit. The camera captures sequential images that do not include the upper side of the item of furniture, the images having a foreground corresponding to a region below the underside of the item of furniture and a background corresponding to a region adjacent the item. The processing unit receives images from the camera; detects, for each image, an edge corresponding to an edge of the item; detects the appearance of a feature contiguous with the edge; monitors how a detected feature changes over a time period; determines whether a change to the detected feature satisfies at least one predefined criterion for a subject exit event; and outputs a signal based on the determining.

Occupancy detection

An apparatus comprises a projector for fixed attachment to a moveable part of an item of furniture, which changes its position and/or orientation relative to a surface in response to a movement of a subject occupying the item of furniture. The projector is arranged to project a pattern onto the surface. At least one camera is arranged to capture sequential images of the surface. A processing unit is arranged to: receive the images from the at least one camera; detect the projected pattern in the received images; detect a change to at least one feature of the projected pattern in the received images; determine whether the detected change satisfies at least one predefined criterion for a subject exit event; and output a signal based on the determining.

There is provided an apparatus for detecting when a subject has exited an item of furniture which has an upper side for supporting a subject and an underside opposite to the upper side, and comprises an overhanging component that extends from the underside toward a surface on which the item of furniture is resting. The apparatus comprises a light source to illuminate an edge-feature associated with a distal edge of the overhanging component, to create a shadow of the edge-feature on a region of the surface. The apparatus further comprises a camera arranged to capture sequential images of the region of the surface; and a processing unit. Device, system and method for extracting physiological information

An apparatus for detecting different subjects on the basis of vital signs includes an image detection unit for detecting radiation from a field of view and for providing image data from the field of view. A detection unit defines image sections in the image data and detects movement patterns in each of the different image sections. An identification unit identifies vital signs in the different image section on the basis of the movement pattern. An analysis unit analyzes the image data and detects the different subjects in the field of view on the basis of a spatial separation of the image sections or of groups of image sections in which the vital signs are identified.
