A trial stimulation system includes a trial electrical stimulator. Additionally, systems for securing a disposable trial stimulator to the body of a patient are described, which may function to improve the durability of the system during the trial period and reduce the risk of damage or malfunction to the system due to lead/electrode dislocation and/or off-label uses like showering or bathing with the trial stimulator still secured to the body.

Trial stimulation systems

A trial stimulation system includes a disposable trial electrical stimulator that, in some examples, is sterilized for a single use in a stimulation trial of one patient. Additionally, systems for securing a disposable trial stimulator to the body of a patient are described, which may function to improve the durability of the system during the trial period and reduce the risk of damage or malfunction to the system due to lead/electrode dislocation and/or off-label uses like showering or bathing with the trial stimulator still secured to the body.

Techniques for monitoring a battery of an implantable medical device are disclosed. First and second current sources are provided to draw currents having amplitudes of Iand I, respectively, from the battery. First and second voltage measurements, Vand V, are obtained when first and second combinations, respectively, of the first and second current sources are selectively activated. Battery impedance is determined using the current amplitudes Iand Iand the voltage measurements Vand V. The impedance measurement may be used to obtain an open-circuit voltage of the battery without the need to disconnect the battery from circuitry to which it provides power. Battery impedance and/or open-circuit battery voltage may then be used to determine an estimated time until an action is required involving the battery, which may include activation of an ERI or EOL indicator, or initiation of a recharge session.

System and method for monitoring a power source of an implantable medical device

An electronic module assembly (EMA) for an implantable medical device is disclosed. The EMA includes conductive strips connected to a non-conductive block. The non-conductive block possesses, a top side, a bottom side, a front side and a back side. A seamless non-conductive barrier extends from the bottom side and between the front side and the back side. The barrier prevents a pin from contacting another pin and eliminates welding of the ground pin to the side of the ferrule.

A power source longevity monitor is configured for an implantable medical device. An energy counter counts the amount of energy used by the implantable medical device. A voltage monitor monitors the voltage of the power source. A calculator predicts the power source longevity using the energy longevity estimate and the voltage longevity estimate.

System and method for monitoring power source longevity of an implantable medical device

An electronic module assembly (EMA) for an implantable medical device is disclosed. The EMA comprises a non-conductive block having a top side, a bottom side, a front side and a back side. A plurality of conductive strips are coupled to the non-conductive block. Each conductive strip possesses a front side and a back side. The back side of each conductive strip extends from the front side across the top side and over to back side of the non-conductive block.

Power source longevity monitor for an implantable medical device. An energy counter counts the amount of energy used by the implantable medical device. An energy converter converts the energy used into an estimate of remaining power source longevity and generating an energy longevity estimate. A voltage monitor monitors the voltage of the power source. A voltage converter converts the voltage monitored by the voltage monitor into an estimate of remaining longevity of the power source and generating a voltage longevity estimate. A calculator is operatively coupled to the energy converter and to the voltage converter and predicts the power source longevity using the energy longevity estimate early in the useful life of the power source and using the voltage longevity estimate later in the useful life of the power source.

A system and method for determining a remaining life estimate of the remaining battery life of a battery of an implantable medical device (IMD). The IMD battery preferably exhibits a highly reproducible monotonically decreasing discharge curve. The estimated remaining life estimates are derived by periodically measuring battery voltage, and estimating the estimated past current drain of the IMD comprising an average of the sum of the quiescent current drain and therapy delivery current drain, and determining the estimated remaining longevity from the measured voltage and the estimated past current drain.
