According to one configuration, a communication management resource such as a SIM provisioning platform receives input from a mobile communication device to activate use of the mobile communication device in a private wireless network. The communication management resource authenticates use of the mobile communication device in the private wireless network. Subsequent to authentication, the communication management resource populates an access file such as private SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) information for use by the mobile communication device to access the private wireless network. The access file is populated with information such as a unique cell identifier value, encryption information, identification of supported services, etc. The communication management resource communicates the newly generated access file (such as SIM information) to the mobile communication device, enabling the mobile communication device use of the private wireless network.

Wireless connection information generation, distribution, and use

A device management resource detects an anomaly event associated with a first communication device based on analysis of first feedback from multiple network entities supporting conveyance of communications associated with the first communication device. The device management resource selects an operational state of the first communication device based on the detected anomaly event. The device management resource then notifies each of the network entities of the selected operational state of the first communication device. Each of the network entities collects and forwards different feedback data associated with the first communication device depending on the selected operational state of the first communication device.

Control of communication devices in a wireless network

A wireless network environment includes a communication management resource operative to manage wireless connectivity provided by multiple different wireless networks, each of which supports a different wireless communication protocol to provide wireless access to communication devices in a network environment. The communication management resource monitors a performance of the multiple wireless networks. In response to detecting an inability of a first wireless network of the multiple wireless networks to provide wireless coverage in a geographical region, the configuration management resource adjusts operation of a second wireless network to provide expanded wireless coverage in the geographical region.

Methods performed by a processor of a computing device for managing functionality of the computing device to interact with field equipment may include determining by the processor a location of field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment, determining by the processor a location of the computing device based on geolocation information, determining whether the location of the field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment and the location of the computing device based on geolocation information are within a threshold distance, verifying the location of the field equipment in response to determining that the location of the field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment and the location of the computing device based on geolocation information are within the threshold distance, and enabling functionality of the computing device to interact with the field equipment in response to verifying the location of the field equipment.

Managing functionality of a computing device to interact with field equipment

Methods and apparatus for controlling device use of available networks, e.g., cellular and WiFi, are described. End devices report key performance indicator and resource utilization information, e.g., on a per application basis, to a configuration server. The configuration server determines, based on the received information, e.g., using machine learning and/or artificial intelligence, sets of configuration profiles, each configuration profile including one or more set of applications for which an end device should use a particular network. An exemplary configuration profile may identify a first set of applications for which a first network is to be used, e.g., a cellular network such as a P-LTE network, and a second set of applications for which a second network, e.g. a WiFi network, is to be used. The configuration server selects a configuration profile that is best suited for a particular end device and communicates that selected profile to the end device.

Methods and apparatus for optimizing network access to enhance a user's experience

A camera of a virtual reality (VR) headset captures a plurality of images of a reflection of a user in a mirror. The plurality of images include at least a first image of a reflection of the user in a first position with respect to the mirror and a second image of a reflection of the user in a second position with respect to the mirror. A three-dimensional avatar is generated based on the plurality of images captured by the camera.

A network server selects a gateway, from among a plurality of alternative candidate gateways, to use for downlink wireless communication to an end node (EN) based on additional factors in addition to RSSI. Exemplary additional factors include: SNR, gateway loading, message loading, backhaul network loading, device type, application type, application priority, operator preferences, device/application black-lists, white-lists, and red-lists, number of devices, number of transmitting devices in a given time interval, operator rules and priorities. In some embodiments, the network server calculates a composite weighted metric (CWM) for each of the alternative candidate gateways which may be used for downlink, subject to operator policy rules, and selects to use a gateway based on the results, e.g. selects the gateway with the highest CWM.

A system for fall prevention includes a platform for supporting a patient, the platform including rails and rail sensors, an image capturing device for capturing images of the patient, a patient monitor for interactive communication with the patient, a health monitoring station for receiving rail sensor data and communicating with the patient monitor, and an edge network device co-located with the platform and communicating with the station and the image capturing device. The edge network device receives image data from the image capturing device when the rail sensors indicate that the rail is down and the patient is at risk to themselves, anonymizes the image data to generate a skeleton image, determines a posture associated with the skeleton image, triggers alerts at the station when the patient is predicted to be sitting, and triggers escalated alerts at the station when the patient is predicted to be standing.
