The vehicle determines how a current DRX cycle should be changed responsive to the value of the at least one predefined variable in accordance with a control strategy associated with the at least one variable and, responsive to the determining how the cycle should be changed, automatically changes the current DRX cycle in accordance with the control strategy while the vehicle remains powered down.
