Embodiments of multilayer films are disclosed comprising a first layer comprising polyethylene, a second layer comprising a first medium density polyethylene; a barrier layer; a third layer comprising a second medium density polyethylene; and a fourth layer comprising polyethylene. The second layer may be positioned between the first layer and the barrier layer. The barrier layer may be positioned between the second layer and the third layer.

A bimodal polyethylene-based composition that is useful for making under film extrusion conditions a film that beneficially has both decreased water vapor transmission rate and decreased haze. The composition comprises an improved design of the composition of the polyethylene blend of a higher molecular weight polyethylene polymer constituent and a lower molecular weight polyethylene polymer constituent and an effective amount of a nucleating agent. Additional embodiments include a method of making the bimodal polyethylene-based composition, a formulation comprising the bimodal polyethylene-based composition and at least one additive, a method of making a manufactured article from the bimodal polyethylene-based composition or formulation; the manufactured article made thereby, use of the bimodal polyethylene-based composition for protecting a moisture-sensitive material, and a sealed package made therefrom. Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to multilayer films. Embodiments of the multilayer films may include a first layer comprising a polyethylene composition having a density of 0.924 g/cmto 0.936 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 0.25 g/10 minutes to 2.0 g/10 minutes, a second layer comprising a first polyolefin, a third layer comprising a second polyolefin. The first layer may be positioned between the second layer and the third layer. The first polyolefin and the second polyolefin may be the same or different.

Multilayer films having at least three layers and methods of producing the same

The present invention relates to oriented, multilayer polyethylene films. In one aspect, a biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene film comprises at least one layer comprising: (1) a polyethylene-based composition that comprises: (a) at least 97% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition, of a polyethylene composition comprising: (i) from 25 to 37 percent by weight of a first polyethylene fraction having a density in the range of 0.935 to 0.947 g/cmand a melt index (I) of less than 0.1 g/10 minutes; and (ii) from 63 to 75 percent by weight of a second polyethylene fraction; and (b) 20 to 5000 ppm, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition of a nucleating agent, wherein the nucleating agent comprises a calcium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid or sodium 4-[(4-chlorobenzoyl) amino] benzoate; wherein the polyethylene composition has less than 0.10 branches per 1,000 carbon atoms when measured usingC NMR, wherein the density of the polyethylene-based composition is at least 0.965 g/cm, and wherein the melt index (I) of the polyethylene-based composition is 0.5 to 10 g/10 minutes.

Oriented polyethylene films and articles comprising the same

The present invention is directed to polyethylene-based compositions suitable for packaging applications, films, and articles. The polyethylene-based composition according to embodiments disclosed herein includes a polyethylene composition having a first polyethylene fraction and a second polyethylene fraction as well as a calcium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarbodylic acid. The polyethylene-based composition can deliver a balance of properties, including barrier properties, for packaging applications.

The second layer may be positioned between the first layer and the third layer; the third layer may be positioned between the second layer and the fourth layer; and the fourth layer may be positioned between the third layer and the fifth layer. Two or more of the first polyolefin, second polyolefin, third polyolefin, and fourth polyolefin may be the same or different. The third polyolefin may be a polyethylene composition having a density of 0.924 g/cmto 0.936 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 0.25 g/10 minutes to 2.0 g/10 minutes.

Multilayer films that include at least five layers and methods of producing the same

The present disclosure provides a multilayer film. The multilayer film includes at least two layers including a sealant layer and a second layer in contact with the sealant layer. The sealant layer contains (A) a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.895 g/cc to 0.925 g/cc and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to 30 g/10 min; (B) a branched fatty acid amide; and (C) a linear saturated fatty acid amide, wherein the branched fatty acid amide and the linear saturated fatty acid amide have a weight ratio of from 1:5 to 3:1. The second layer contains a second ethylene-based polymer.

Multilayer films and laminates containing slip agents

In various embodiments, a polyethylene formulation has a density of greater than 0.940 g/cmwhen measured according to ASTM D792, and a high load melt index (I) of 1.0 g/10 min to 10.0 g/10 min when measured according to ASTM D1238 at 190&#xb0; C. and a 21.6 kg load. Moreover, the polyethylene formulation has a peak molecular weight (M) of less than 50,000 g/mol, a number average molecular weight (M) of less than 30,000 g/mol, and a weight fraction (w1) of molecular weight (MW) less than 10,000 g/mol of less than or equal to 10.5 wt %, as determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). Articles made from the polyethylene formulation, such as articles made by blow molding processes are also provided.

Polyethylene formulations with improved barrier and environmental stress crack resistance

The present disclosure provides a composition containing a polymeric blend. The polymeric blend contains (A) from 50 wt % to 90 wt % of a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.895 g/cc to 0.905 g/cc; and a melt index from 0.1 g/10 min to 50 g/10 min; (B) from 8 wt % to 48 wt % of a second ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.935 g/cc to 0.967 g/cc; and a melt index from 0.1 g/10 min to 180 g/10 min; and from 0.01 wt % to 2.0 wt % of a slip agent, based on the total weight of the polymeric blend. The polymeric blend has (i) an overall density from 0.900 g/cc to 0.925 g/cc; and (ii) a coefficient of friction (COF) after aging for 1 week at 60&#xb0; C. from 0.001 to 0.400. The present disclosure also provides a multilayer film with a first layer containing the composition.
