A thermal barrier includes a thermal insulating block, a layer of ultra-high performance fibered concrete integrated with the block, reinforcements embedded in the layer of ultra-high performance fibered concrete, the reinforcements protruding from the ultra-high performance fibered concrete on either side of the block. Embodiments of the invention further provides a building that includes the barrier, a process of manufacturing the barrier and a manufacturing process of the building.

Thermal barrier

A concrete which includes in parts by weight: 100 Portland cement; 50 to 200 of a sand having a single grading with a D10 to D90 between 0.063 and 5 mm, or a mixture of sands, the finest sand having a D10 to D90 between 0.063 and 1 mm and the coarsest sand having a D10 to D90 between 1 and 4 mm; 10 to 50 of a particulate, substantially non-pozzolanic material having a mean particle size less than 15 &#x3bc;m; 0.1 to 10 of a water-reducing superplasticizer; and 10 to 30 of water; which concrete is substantially free of silica fume; the concrete having a compressive strength greater than 100 Mpa at 28 days.

A production process includes providing an envelope and a mould, introducing the material to be moulded in the mould, placing the mould in the envelope, creating a low pressure in the envelope, and deforming the mould.

The invention concerns the use of organic fibers having a melting point lower than 300&#xb0; C., an average length l more than 1 mm and a diameter &#xd8; not more than 200 &#x3bc;m, in ultra high performance concrete for improving the concrete fire resistance, the amount of organic fibers being such that their volume ranges between 0.1 and 3% of the concrete volume after setting and the concrete having a compressive strength at 28 days of at least 120 Mpa, a bending strength of at least 20 Mpa, and a spread value in non-hardened state of at least 150 mm, the values being for a concrete preserved at 20&#xb0; C., the concrete consisting of a particularly hardened cement matrix wherein metal fibres are dispersed.
