A torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus provided between a crankshaft of an engine and a driven-side input shaft includes a flywheel coupled to the crankshaft and a damper assembly disposed in a torque transmission path between the flywheel and the driven-side input shaft. The damper assembly includes a pair of drive plates, a driven plate and a spring damper. A torque limiter is disposed in a torque transmission path between the flywheel and the damper assembly. The torque limiter includes a pair of linings which generates relative rotational slip between the flywheel and the damper assembly when a torque larger than a predetermined amount is transmitted and are adapted to slip when receiving at least a predetermined amount of torque. The linings of the torque limiter are fixed to one of the drive plates and are interposed between a flywheel main body and a damper cover that forms a part of the torque limiter. The drive plates, the linings and the damper cover are centered with respect to the flywheel main body, and are assembled together to provide an assembly of the flywheel main body, the damper assembly and the torque limiter. After the engine is assembled with the driven-side input shaft, the assembly of the flywheel main body, the damper assembly and the torque limiter is fastened to the flywheel plate that is fixed to the crankshaft.

Torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus having structure for reducing misalignment of torque limiter during assembling thereof, and method for assembling the same

A torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus includes a flywheel coupled to an engine crankshaft, a damper assembly disposed between the flywheel and the driven-side input shaft and including a pair of drive plates, a driven plate and spring dampers, and a torque limiter disposed between the flywheel and the damper assembly and including a pair of linings that are adapted to slip when receiving at least a predetermined amount of torque. In fabricating the apparatus, the drive plates and the linings are centered with each other and assembled into a damper-torque limiter assembly, while the lining support plate is centered with respect to the flywheel, such that the damper-torque limiter assembly is fixed at the lining support plate to the flywheel.

A torque fluctuation absorber which is unlikely applied with an foreign material such as dust on a limiter portion during transporting the torque fluctuation absorber. The torque fluctuation absorber includes a flywheel for transmitting a driving force from a power source and a damper mechanism having a limiter portion which includes a frictional member being frictionally engaged with the flywheel on an external peripheral side and connected to an input shaft of a transmission on an internal peripheral side. The torque fluctuation absorber further includes a supporting mechanism for performing a frictional engagement of the frictional member by supporting the frictional member in an axial direction of a drive shaft under a condition before assembling the flywheel to the damper mechanism.

A torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus includes a flywheel coupled to an engine crankshaft, a damper assembly disposed between the flywheel and the driven-side input shaft and including a pair of drive plates, a driven plate and spring dampers, and a torque limiter disposed between the flywheel and the damper assembly and including a pair of linings that are adapted to slip when receiving at least a predetermined amount of torque. The apparatus is provided with a structure for reducing misalignment of the torque limiter during assembling thereof. For example, the torque limiter further includes a lining support plate to which the linings are fixed, and the linings are interposed between the drive plates. In fabricating the apparatus, the drive plates and the linings are centered with each other and assembled into a damper-torque limiter assembly, while the lining support plate is centered with respect to the flywheel, such that the damper-torque limiter assembly is fixed at the lining support plate to the flywheel.

A power transmitting mechanism is provided in which a driving member rotatingly transmitting power and a driven member receiving the transmitted power are arranged concentrically for rotation relative to each other. A torsion member is accommodated between the driving member and the driven member. A first hysteresis mechanism including at least one friction member is provided on the inner peripheral side of a spacing accommodating the torsion mechanism. The friction member of the first hysteresis mechanism may be split into a plurality of portions each passing through, with clearance, a respective hole or cut-out in the driven member. A second hysteresis mechanism including at least one friction member is arranged outside the space accommodating the torsion mechanism. The second hysteresis mechanism generates hysteresis separate from that generated by the first hysteresis mechanism. The torsion member may be plural torsion springs with differing spring constants. A flywheel is connected to the driven member and a clutch mechanism is either abutted against or substantially spaced apart from the flywheel.

Power transmitting mechanism with two hysteresis mechanisms

A clutch disc is constructed to achieve superior performance by increasing the allowable torque or the angle of torsion of the damper plate. The clutch disc includes a clutch hub, a disc spring, and the damper plate interposed between the clutch hub and the disc spring. The damper plate is provided with an arc-like slit. In a portion of the slit proximate to the end of the slit at the peripheral or the inner peripheral side of the damper plate, the slit is centrifugally curved or curved toward the clutch axis such that both ends thereof are close to a radius of a concentric circle. According to another aspect of the invention, the damper plate is provided with a plurality of first rivets and a plurality of first rivet holes. The radii of the first rivet holes gradually decrease as the distance between the clutch axis and each hole decreases, whereas the radii increase gradually as the distance between the clutch axis and each hole increases. According to a further aspect of the invention, several damper plates are provided and there is a dislocation between the inner periphery of each damper plate and the periphery of the damper plate in the direction parallel with the clutch axis so that the damper plates have a certain thickness in the direction parallel with the clutch axis.

A torque variation absorbing device is comprised of an engine inertia body divided into a drive plate and a flywheel which is connected to the drive plate so as to be rotatable relative thereto, a space defined between the drive plate and the flywheel, an elastic member fixedly mounted on the flywheel and having at its outer periphery a plurality of projections, a plurality of plates arranged in such a manner that one end of the plate is secured on the projection and the other end of the plate is overlapped with one end of the adjacent plate which is secured on the adjacent projection, a ball interposed between each of the plates and an inner periphery of the drive plate, and a round shaft interposed between the other end of the plate and one end of the adjacent plate.

Torque variation absorbing device

A torque variation absorbing device comprises a driving plate, a flywheel which is rotatable relative to the driving plate through a bearing element in common axis, an elastic member which is disposed in a space defined between the driving plate and the flywheel, an inner peripheral portion of the elastic member secured to either the driving plate or the flywheel, and an outer peripheral surface corresponding to an inner peripheral surface of the other, a plate secured to an outer peripheral surface of the elastic member so as to correspond to the inner peripheral surface, a plurality of rotational members which are rotatably disposed between the plate and the inner peripheral surface in the circumferential direction in such a manner that each rotational member is depressed by the elastic force of the elastic member, and a clearance which is defined between the plate and the inner peripheral surface, and narrows toward both ends of the plate from a center of the plate so as to obtain a large relative angle of torsion and to improve performance during high speed rotation.

An apparatus for absorbing torque vibration comprises inertial bodies comprising first and second flywheels, and a damper mechanism, torque limiting mechanism and hysteresis mechanism interposed between the first and second flywheels. The rotation is transmitted between both flywheels via damper mechanism, torque limiting mechanism and hysteresis mechanism. Resilient members are secured to spring seats, which are engaged with both ends of a spring of the damper mechanism, at an inner-half portion of the spring seat closer to the axis of said flywheels than an axial line of the spring. Excess compression of the resilient members is prevented.

A device for automatically changing the speed ratio between a drive shaft and a driven shaft, including a pair of pulleys mounted on the drive and driven shafts and each having two opposing flanges of truncated cone shape, the pulleys being linked by a V-belt and one pulley being loaded with centrifugally displaceable weights for the speed-change operation. One of the flanges of each pulley is provided with a cover plate having a flat surface portion perpendicular to the rotational axis in face-to-face relation with a truncated-conical surface of the flange. Centrifugally displaceable weights in the form of rollers are located in contact with and between the flat surface portion and the truncated-conical surface portion displaceably radially outward for the speed-change operation. Each roller is constituted by a pair of cylindrical members fixed in opposite end portions of a short shaft and a cylindrical rotary member rotatably mounted in the middle portion and having an outer diameter slightly greater than the cylindrical members. The roller is held in rolling contact with the truncated-conical surface portion of the flange at the opposite end portions and with the flat surface portion of the cover plate in the middle portion to preclude sliding resistance.

Centrifugal operating device

A clutch assembly for automotive vehicles as one application of the rotational torque transmission mechanism comprises an inertia member divided to a driving plate connected to an engine crank shaft and a flywheel connected to a clutch cover. Between the driving plate and the flywheel is provided dampers and a torque limiting clutch which will permit the slidable rotation of the driving plate relative to the flywheel. Thus, any vigorous torque variation on the crank shaft particularly at the low speed of the engine may be absorbed or diminished to thereby avoid the objectionable torque transmission to a clutch output member.

Rotational torque transmission mechanism

A V-pulley of variable pitch type for a drive acting through a tension medium strand includes two sheaves, at least one of which is displaceable in an axial direction relative to the other, each sheave having a running surface for a tension medium strand such as, for example, V-belts, at least one of the sheaves being mounted on a shaft-like member, at least two systems having means mutually connecting the sheaves to each other, the at least two systems being axially spaced from each other. Thus at least one system allows axial displacement of the one sheave linked thereto, and the other system is firmly linked to the other sheave. Two linked portions of the systems are located radially outside with respect to the running surfaces of the sheaves, thereby obtaining friction-free and wear-free entrainment and guidance of the movable sheave, and especially entrainment and guidance without the occurrence of fatigued corrosion to link means.

A clutch releasing device for positively releasing a disc assembly from a flywheel and for providing a predetermined value of a distance between an engagement surface of the flywheel and a friction surface of the disc assembly, comprises a cylindrical member disposed between the disc assembly and an antifriction bearing supported on the drive shaft and the flywheel, and an annular resilient member disposed between the cylindrical member and the clutch hub.

A hinge fitting for adjusting the inclination of the back rest of a vehicle seat comprises a stationary hinge plate secured to the seat, a movable hinge plate pivoted to the stationary hinge plate and secured to the back rest, a semicircularly toothed internal rack secured within the stationary hinge plate, a pawl lever swingably pivoted on the inside of the movable hinge plate and including a detent element swingable at the outside of the movable hinge plate to be meshed with the teeth of the rack in a vertical common plane, the pivot position of the pawl lever being arranged on a tangent of the semicircularly aligned teeth of the rack, and a spring loaded locking lever pivoted coaxially with the hinge plates and movable between a locked position in which the detent element is engaged with the rack by engagement of the locking lever against the detent element and a released position in which the detent element is disengaged from the rack by engagement of the locking lever against the pawl lever.
