An electronic musical instrument is configured to store music data including performance data on a plurality of tracks and receive designation of a track or tracks so that when a test-listen button for receiving instruction of test-listen of the designated track(s) is pressed, the electronic musical instrument plays the performance data on the designated track(s) among the music data and plays the performance data on the other tracks at a volume lower than the volume of the designated track(s).

There is provided a procedure for generating tone-generation controlling key-on and key-off signals, which is applicable to either a first-type key operation detection device that, in response to depressing operation of a key, generates detection signals in correspondence with at least predetermined upper and lower positions or a second-type key operation detection device that, in response to depressing operation of a key, not only generates detection signals in correspondence with at least predetermined upper and lower positions but also generates a detection signal of an intermediate position unobtainable by the first-type key operation detection device. On the basis of the detection signals received from the key operation detection device applied, a first key-on signal is generated when a key has reached the lower position from the upper position. Further, on the basis of the detection signals, a determination is made as to whether or not particular operation has been performed for causing the key to reach the lower position from the intermediate position after generation of the first key-on signal but before generation of a key-off signal, and, if so, a second key-on signal is generated. Furthermore, on the basis of the received detection signals, a key-off signal is generated in correspondence with the generated first or second key-on signal when the key has returned to a predetermined key-off position after generation of the first or second key-on signal.

Tone generation control program and electronic keyboard instrument using the tone generation control program

Performance data include at least a particular type of control parameter, like velocity data. Tones colors include ones of a first type for which the particular type of control parameter presents a first variation characteristic, and ones of a second type for which the control parameter presents a second variation characteristic. Environment setting data can be either set via a user's apparatus or received from another apparatus, and the environment setting data may include tone-color-change instructing information. When an automatic performance is to be executed on the basis of the performance data, a tone color of the performance data to be automatically performed is changed into a tone color corresponding to the instructing information. Tone color change instruction by the instructing information is invalidated, when the tone color be changed between tone colors of the first and second types.

Automatic performance apparatus and method, and program therefor

To a tone generation apparatus is removably attachable a plug-in board for generating a tone on the basis of performance information and extending the tone generating function of the tone generation apparatus. Tone color name information and tone color parameter name information of tone color data possessed by the attached plug-in board is stored in a nonvolatile memory. Thus, any tone color possessed by the plug-in board can be known with reference only to the nonvolatile memory and without a need to refer to the plug-in board. The nonvolatile memory can also store tone color data of a custom voice obtained by editing original tone color data of the plug-in board. With this arrangement, the plug-in board is allowed to obtain the tone color data of the custom voice from the nonvolatile memory, as necessary.
