Cosmetics with hydrofluoroether (HFE)

The polymer for cosmetics produced by polymerizing (A) a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, and (B) at least one silicon-containing polymerizable compound selected from the group consisting of a mercapto-modified silicone, an azo group-containing silicone and a polymerizable silane can be blended easily in cosmetic preparations and can form a film excellent in a water proofing property, a water- and oil-repellency, feelings in use and safety. This copolymer for cosmetics can improve the drawbacks of fluorine compound-treated powders.

A copolymer for cosmetics, which is obtained by polymerizing (A) 5 to 95% by weight of a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, and (B) 5 to 95% by weight of at least one fluorine-free monomer selected from the group consisting of (i) a silicone macromonomer, (ii) a polyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylate, (iii) an alkyl (meth)acrylate, and (iv) an alkyl (meth)acrylate macromonomer, can be easily incorporated in cosmetics and can form a film excellent in water resistance, water- and oil-repellency, feeling when used, and safety. This copolymer for cosmetics can improve the drawbacks of powder treated with a fluorine-containing compound.

A water- and oil-repellent containing a copolymer of (a) a fluoroalkyl group-containing monomer having a melting point of 60 to 80&deg; C. in the state of a homopolymer, and (b) a hydrophilic group-containing monomer is extremely superior in soil releasability.

Disclosed is water- and oil-repellent powder for cosmetic, containing a homopolymer of a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate (I) or a copolymer of the polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate (I) and an alkyl (meth)acrylate (II) and/or a silicone macromonomer (III). A cosmetic containing water- and oil-repellent powder for cosmetic is superior in water- and oil-repellency and feel in use, and has almost no change of makeup.

A soil release agent for dry cleaning containing a copolymer having (A) a repeating unit derived from a polymerizable monomer having a fluorine atom; and (B) a repeating unit derived from a polymerizable monomer having a siloxane linkage and/or a polymerizable monomer (having no siloxane linkage) having a solubility parameter of 6 to 15 gives excellent soil release property using the dry cleaning.

A stainproofing composition having water- and oil-repellency, containing a polymer emulsion prepared by dissolving at least one polyfluoroalkyl group-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate polymer, a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing polyester, a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing maleate and a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing fumarate in at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylate ester, a vinyl ester, a styrene compound and vinylidene chloride, vinyl chloride, emulsifying the resultant solution in water to prepare an oil-in-water emulsion, and polymerizing the emulsion exhibits excellent water- and oil-repellency and stainproof properties. It is also superior in sedimentation stability of the emulsion.
