An ignition system for an automobile including a spark circuit, a power supply circuit for supplying power, a switching circuit for supplying power from the power supply circuit to the spark circuit, a distributing circuit for controlling the switching circuit in accordance with a ignition timing signal, and a control circuit for receiving the ignition timing signal and for disabling the distributing circuit for a predetermined period of time in response to a value of the received ignition timing signal.

Ignition system

A DC voltage converting device having a choke coil, a switching device, a capacitor for accumulating electric energy, an inhibition setting device for setting and releasing an inhibition of charging, a current detecting device for detecting a charge current of the choke coil, a charge/discharge setting device for setting a discharge of the choke coil, and a driving device for conductively energizing the switching device. Based on this construction, when a capacitor voltage exceeds a predetermined voltage, only a time for interrupting the charge is extended.

DC voltage converting device

An ignition system is disclosed in which secondary windings of a first and a second ignition coil are connected in parallel to a spark electrode of an internal combustion engine. A d.c. high voltage is alternately fed to the primary windings of the first and the second ignition coil. When an integrated value of a current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil reaches a first reference value, this primary coil is disconnected from a feed bus, and instead the primary winding of the second (the first) ignition coil is connected to the bus. When a short-circuit occurs in one of the ignition coils, only the other ignition coil conducts repeatedly, and accordingly the switching of the energization takes place whenever the current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil reaches a second reference value. In the event a breakage occurs in one of the ignition coils, only the other ignition coil conducts repeatedly, and accordingly the switching of the energization takes place when the integrated value of the current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil fails to reach the first reference value within a first given time interval.

Ignition system for internal combustion engine

An ignition system for generating multiple ignitions during a spark interval of an engine cylinder. For controlling an energy of each one of the multiple ignitions, a ramp signal which linearly rises from an initial peak value of a primary charge current for each one of the multiple ignitions of a primary winding of the ignition coil is compared with a preset value and a charge of the primary winding for each one of the multiple ignitions is stopped when the ramp signal exceeds the preset value. After a predetermined time, a primary charge current is supplied again to the primary winding until the ramp signal exceeds the preset value.

Ignition control system

An ignition device for an engine is removable without removing the cylinder head cover, for gaining access to the spark plug. A case has a lower portion releasibly fitted around a spark plug mounted to a cylinder head of the engine. First and second bobbins having coils wound thereon are mounted concentrically in the case and a C-shaped core is positioned outside of the case and has distal ends fitted in the bobbins. An ignition head cover removably mounted to the cylinder head cover of the engine supports the core when the lower portion of the case is fitted around a spark plug.

Ignition device for an engine

A motor-driven flow rate control valve device which includes a housing, a valve, a valve shaft, a return spring and a step motor. The housing has its inlet and outlet. The valve is disposed in a passage formed in the housing and is capable of keeping communication between the inlet and the outlet under control by its opening and closing action. The valve shaft is axially slidable in the housing and has a first end thereof linked to the valve. The return spring is held by a holder which includes a first end thereof secured to the housing and a second end thereof secured to a second end of the valve shaft. The return spring constantly forces the valve to move in a valve closing direction. The step motor is fixed through a motor housing to the housing and subsumes a rotor equipped with a screw mechanism for converting a rotary motion of the step motor into an axial motion of the motor shaft. One end of the motor shaft impinges upon the second end of the valve shaft. In this construction, there is provided an improvement characterized in that a spiral spring is spanned between an end portion of the rotor of the step motor and a fixation end of the motor housing. With such an arrangement, a so-called open locking state wherein the valve is locked in an open state is not created.

Motor-driven flow rate control valve device

An apparatus for controlling the air-fuel ratio for an internal combustion engine and which includes a flame sensor provided in the vicinity of a spark plug within an engine combustion chamber, an air induction passage for bypassing a throttle valve of a carburetor, an electromagnetic valve disposed in the air induction passage to control an amount of air flowing through the air induction passage, and an electronic control unit actuating the electromagnetic valve by means of input electric signals from the flame sensor and including a control MAP based on a mutual relation between an air-fuel ratio and a time of firing.

Apparatus for controlling the air-fuel ratio for an internal combustion

An electrically actuated EGR valve controls the recirculation of exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine. The EGR valve includes a step motor having a linearly moving motor shaft engaging a rod of a poppet valve for communicating an exhaust gas inlet port with an exhaust gas outlet port. An insulator and a cooling atmosphere chamber separate the step motor from the heat of the exhaust gases.

Electric exhaust gas recirculation valve

A turbocharger control device for use in conjunction with an internal combustion engine includes a turbine driven by exhaust gases; a compressor connected with the turbine by having a shaft having a hole through the diameter; a photo projector and photo receiver facing each other across the shaft at the location of the through-hole for generating a light pulse signal proportional to the rate of rotation of the shaft; a photo-voltage converter connected optically with the photo receiver for converting the light pulse signal to an electrical pulse signal; an engine control unit connected electrically with the converter for generating a control signal in response to the electrical signal; an actuator connected with the engine control unit for movement in response to the control signal; an exhaust gas bypass passage connected between upstream and downstream portions of the turbine; and a bypass valve operatively connected to the actuator and associated with the bypass passage for controlling the flow through the bypass passage in response to the control signal.

An electromagnetic control valve used in an internal combustion engine and which includes a motor having a solenoid coil and a center core, a valve body having an inlet port and outlet ports, a pair of yokes connecting the motor and the valve body, a valve rotor having a shaft, a bushing and a plurality of bores, a rotatable permanent magnet arranged at one end of the valve rotor, a torsion spring arranged at the other end of the valve rotor, and a bearing member for rotatably holding the valve rotor and having openings formed therein.

Electromagnetic control valve

A mounting device for a spiral spring which includes a rotatable shaft, a casing having a wall through which a first end of said rotatable shaft extends, a spiral spring for biasing the rotatable shaft in one direction, the spiral spring having an inner end which is engaged with the first end of the rotatable shaft, a spring holder positioned within the casing and having a first projection extending therefrom with which an outer end of the spiral spring is engaged, and a cover fitted within the casing covering the spiral spring and engaging with the spring holder so as to be rotated therewith and for thereby adjusting the biasing force of the spiral spring.

A linear motor-actuated flow control valve includes: a casing having an inlet port and an outlet port; a moving-coil linear motor disposed within said casing, said linear motor including a hollow, ferromagnetic core which delimits the interior of said casing into valve chambers and which has a valve hole or holes for communicating said inlet and outlet ports with each other, a bobbin slidably disposed on said core for controlling the opening degree of the valve hole(s), an electromagnetic coil wound on said bobbin, a permanent magnet so arranged that the magnetic flux produced thereby extends axially of said electromagnetic coil, and a magnetic body for forming a magnetic circuit, in cooperation with said core, for the flux produced by said permanent magnet; and spring for biasing said bobbin so that said bobbin is retained at a predetermined position by said spring means when said electromagnetic coil is in the de-energized state, whereby said valve hole(s) is/are held open or closed to a predetermined degree, said spring serving as power supply lines for said electromagnetic coil, wherein the improvement comprises some of said valve holes, referred to a first valve hole(s), disposed at a position lying within said magnetic circuit along the length of said hollow ferromagnetic core, and a second valve hole(s) disposed at the other position(s) lying outside of said magnetic circuit along the length of said core.

Linear motor-actuated flow control valve

A turbocharger control system for a vehicle engine which includes a first air passage for supplying air to the vehicle engine, a throttle valve pivotally mounted in the first air passage, a turbocharger having a compressor and a turbine, the compressor being positioned within the first air passage upstream of the throttle valve, a second air passage for connecting a portion of the first passage downstream of the compressor and a portion of the first passage upstream of the compressor, a valve device positioned within the second air passage for relieving fluid pressure from the downstream portion of the first air passage to the upstream of the first air passage, a throttle sensor operatively associated with the throttle valve for detecting the operating position of the throttle valve and generating signals in response thereto and a computer connected to the valve for receiving the signals generated from the throttle sensor and for delivering the signals to the valve to operate the valve in response to the position of the throttle valve and acceleration of movement of the throttle valve.

Turbocharger control system

A solenoid actuated valve device for electrically controlling the flow of fluid includes a body having an inlet port and an outlet port, a hollow core positioned within the body and having first and second axially spaced openings which provide fluid communication between said inlet and outlet ports and a cover member secured to one end of the body so that the core is supported by the body and the cover member for axial adjustment movement relative thereto. A bobbin is slidably mounted on the core and is provided with a valve portion for controlling the effective area of the first and second openings. A solenoid coil is provided for shifting the value in opposite directions. In the absence of electric current to the coil first and second springs maintain the bobbin in a position so that the valve portion thereof is located between the first and second openings in the coil so that one opening will be completely open and the other will be completely closed.

Solenoid actuated valve device

A linear motor-actuated flow control valve includes spring means for biasing a bobbin controlling valve hole opening degree in mutually opposing directions, to hold the bobbin at a middle opened position when an electromagnetic coil wound on the bobbin is deenergized. The bobbin is driven against spring means force in any opposing directions to increase or decrease the opening degree by applying a positive or negative energizing current to the coil.
