A light source device includes: a plurality of first semiconductor light sources; a condenser lens; and a light guide having a prismatic shape in which an incident surface is on a first side of a central axis direction of the prismatic shape and an emission surface is on a second side of the central axis direction of the prismatic shape, a positional relationship between the plurality of first semiconductor light sources, the condenser lens, and the light guide is set such that a traveling direction of the light incident on the incident surface from the first semiconductor light sources via the condenser lens is perpendicular to a reflecting surface of the light guide in a plan view as viewed in the central axis direction of the prismatic shape, the incident light being reflected on the reflecting surface in the light guide.

An endoscope light source device includes: a box that is connectable to a light guide of an endoscope; a first light source configured to emit light of a first wavelength band; a second light source configured to emit light of a second wavelength band; a multiplexer configured to multiplex the light emitted by the first light source and the light emitted by the second light source; a diffuser configured to diffuse part of the light multiplexed by the multiplexer to an outside of an optical path for input to the light guide; a light quantity sensor configured to detect quantity of at least part of the light diffused by the diffuser; and an illumination controller configured to control quantity of light to be emitted from at least one of the first light source and the second light source.

An endoscope system includes: a light source that is configured to emit primary light; plural illuminators that are configured to be irradiated with the primary light to emit plural respective illumination light generated based on the radiated primary light toward an observation object so that at least part of the plural illumination light overlap on the observation object; and an adjuster that is configured to desirably adjust a ratio of light quantities of the primary light that travels from the light source to the respective illuminators, so as to distribute the primary light to the respective illuminators.

An endoscope apparatus includes an imager configured to detect reflected and scattered light of illumination light radiated to an observation object and output an imaging signal, the illumination light including light in three wavelength ranges corresponding to first, second, and third depth regions, and an image processor including an intermediate emphasis image generator configured to generate an intermediate emphasis image, based on a first emphasis image signal generated based on emphasis narrowband light, a first non-emphasis image signal generated based on non-emphasis narrowband, and image signals corresponding to all wavelength ranges not including the first emphasis and non-emphasis image signals, and a display image generator configured to generate a display image based on the intermediate emphasis image.

The optical path combiner has an optical deflection surface that deflects the second light, and has an aperture that allows the first light to pass through it within an area of the optical deflection surface. The optical path combiner deflects the second light so that a center axis of the optical path of the second light deflected by the optical deflection surface corresponds to a center axis of the optical path of the first light that has passed through the aperture.

An endoscope includes an observation mode switch to switch observation modes. The observation modes include a dye valid observation mode allowed to acquire an image in which the dye is visually recognized well, and a dye invalid observation mode allowed to acquire an image in which the dye is substantially not visually recognized.

A light source apparatus includes a main unit, light source modules attachable to and detachable from the main unit, and storage mediums storing characteristic information of the light source modules. Each light source module includes at least one light source and a light connection part to be optically connected to the main unit. The main unit includes entrance parts to be optically connected to the light connection parts of the connected light source modules, a light combining unit to combine light entering the entrance parts, at least one exit part to cause light combined by the light combining unit to exit, and an exit light characteristic deriving unit to derive characteristic information of achievable exit light based on characteristic information of the light source modules stored in the storage mediums.

The system includes an endoscope including an insertion section provided with an illumination window, a light guide arranged in the insertion section, and including an entrance end on which the lights enter and a plurality of light guide areas that guide the lights entered on the entrance end, and an entrance area switching unit that switches between the light guide areas through which the entered lights are guided by switching between areas on which the lights enter at the entrance end in accordance with an observation mode.
