An objective of the present invention is to provide a resin composition which gives a molding excellent in flexibility, impact resilience and mechanical properties and a golf ball having the better shot feel, a long carry, and the excellent cutting resistance when used in a golf ball cover. The resin composition of the present invention is characterized in comprising an ionomer resin, an alkoxysilyl group-containing hydrogenated conjugated diene-based polymer and/or an amino group-containing hydrogenated conjugated diene-based polymer. Alkoxysilyl group content and amino group content in the above-mentioned polymers are preferably 0.0001 to 5 mmol/g, respectively. The golf ball of the invention is characterized in that core is covered with a cover material using the above-mentioned resin composition.

Resin composition and golf ball

An objective of the present invention is to provide a hydrogenated modified polymer which can afford a molded body excellent in improvement in the balance among the impact resistance, the strength, the adherability and as the appearance, and a process for producing the same as well as a composition containing the same. Another objective is to provide a composition which can afford a molded body excellent in the balance among the flame retardancy, the tensile strength, the tensile extension, the heat resistance, the characteristic at low temperature, the insulation property, the pliability and the like. The hydrogenated modified polymer of the invention is a hydrogenated polymer of a modified conjugated diene-based polymer obtained by reacting an alkoxysilane compound to a polymer which is polymerized a conjugated diene or a conjugated diene and another monomer using an organic alkali metal compound as a polymerization initiator in an inert organic solvent such as cyclohexane and the like. The hydrogenated modified polymer composition of the invention contains the above-mentioned hydrogenated modified polymer and at least one selected from the group consisting of nonpolar polymer, polar polymer and filler.

Hydrogenated modified polymer, process for producing the same and composition containing the same

The invention provides a resin composition comprising a polyphenylene ether-based resin and a polyolefin resin, having no interlayer peeling and exhibiting excellent heat resistance and dynamic properties such as impact resistance, rigidity and tensile breaking elongation. The thermoplastic resin composition is characterized in that it comprises (i) a polyphenylene ether-based resin, (ii) a polyolefin resin, and (iii) a hydrogenated block copolymer which consists of block A containing over 50 wt % of a vinyl aromatic compound component and block B containing over 50 wt % of a conjugated diene compound component, the 1,2- and 3,4-vinyl content of the conjugated diene compound component of the copolymer being 60-90%, the content of the bonding vinyl aromatic compound component being 30-70 wt % and at least 85% of the double bonds of the conjugated diene component being hydrogenated; the weight ratio ((i)/(ii)) of the (i) polyphenylene ether-based resin and the (ii) polyolefin resin is in the range of 95/5-5/95; and the (iii) hydrogenated block copolymer is present in the range of 1-50 parts by weight to 100 parts by weight of the total of the (i) polyphenylene ether-based resin and the (ii) polyolefin resin.

A hydrogenation catalyst comprising (A) a transition metal compound in which a group having a heterocyclic skeleton is bonded to Ti, Zr or Hf through an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom, a representative of which compound is bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium bis(tetrahydrofurfuryloxy) and (B) an organic compound, halide or hydride of a metal of Groups I to III of the Periodic Table or comprising the constituent (A), the constituent (B) and (C) a polar, organic compound such as an alcohol, a carboxylic acid or the like. An olefinically unsaturated compound can be hydrogenated with a high efficiency by contacting the compound with hydrogen in the presence of the above catalyst in an inert, organic solvent. The above catalyst has a very high catalytic activity, is excellent in hydrogenation selectivity and thermal resistance, also excellent in storage stability and maintainability of catalytic activity and is hardly affected by the co-existing impurities.
