In distributed system for operating devices in association with one another, a device responsible for determining whether or not an access is permitted, and criteria for determination are hidden from accessing device or user, and flexible access control is provided among devices without need for previously defining accessible devices or user's identifiers. Communication process opens data communications which are interactions between devices to permit indefinite number of other devices to monitor data. A behavior monitoring process acquires interaction within particular device or between other devices in system for storage in behavior log table. Access control process matches the behavior log table with access control policy to determine whether or not device should be associated with target device from which process request is received, or with a target device to which a process program of the particular device attempts to access.

Open information based access control method

The present invention relates to a distributed system in which processors incorporated in machines and objects are mutually linked in operation, and an object of the present invention is to provide a distributed system in which each device can establish a link with a suitable device according to changes in the environment and conditions, independently from the system configuration controlled by a server. In order to achieve the above object, each device provided by the present invention obtains information on surrounding devices through a sensoror communication processing, recognizes the environment around it through environment recognition processing, and stores the environmental information in an environment management table. By employing link control processing, each device shares conditional information stored in a profileand a policyof each device through the communication processing. Each device locally and continuously determines a device to be linked with it or whether to perform a link operation requested by another device, using the shared conditional information, information on the surrounding environment, and the policy. The results of a link operation are made public and shared by each device through the link control processing, and used for narrowing the range of link target devices.

A client (referred to as A) transmits a request to a service mediate server (referred to as B) through a communication medium. B receives information. A server (referred to as C) receives a request for obtaining information from B and transmits information requested by B. B receives a request from A. A service mediate managing unit determines a type of information to be provided to A, based on the attribute information of the content of the request, the customized information of A and C pre-stored in the service mediate managing unit, and various status at the receipt of the request. The service mediate agent selects any one of plural Cs and transmit the request for obtaining information to the selected C. The information received by C is processed by the service mediate agent and the processed information is transmitted to A.

An information processing apparatus is capable of achieving high-level functions such as high-speed processing and learning without requiring a complex algorithm based on, for example, knowledge processing. A plurality of sets of known input data and correct output data corresponding thereto are beforehand stored. The stored input data is called response pattern data. Data actually inputted in the system operation is supplied to the plural sets of data. For each set of data, the input data is compared with the response pattern data to evaluate a distance (degree of similarity) therebetween. A process control system for controlling a process exhibiting both linear behavior and non-linear behavior with a plurality of control quantities has a knowledge base storing therein universal facts, production rules including expert's empirical rules, meta rules describing flows of inferences, algorithm methods by mathematical expressions and membership functions referenced in fuzzy inference and a complex inference mechanism. The complex inference mechanism is composed of a complex fuzzy mechanism for inferring directly predicted values on a multi-dimensional space generated by a plurality of elements for evaluation and predicted control objectives evaluated previously with fuzzy quantities, a predicting fuzzy mechanism having the input supplied with the predicted values for determining arithmetically correlation to the membership functions determined previously with the fuzzy quantities and a satisfaction grade obtained by imparting weight to the correlation for each of the control objectives to thereby determine such a combination of the control quantities for control effectors to vary the operation states thereof from the current operation states that the satisfaction grade becomes maximum, and a main inference mechanism having the input supplied with process data to thereby compare selectively the process data with the knowledge stored in the knowledge base for thereby making decision of the process behavior through a forward fuzzy inference with the aid of the production rules based on the empirical knowledge and manage the whole process control system including the complex fuzzy inference mechanism, the predicting fuzzy inference mechanism and the knowledge base. The system can be advantageously employed for intra-tunnel ventilation control and other processes exhibiting both linear and non-linear behaviors.

A prediction control of a process containing a non-linear behavior is effected by predicting a transition of process quantities (control quantities) of an object to be controlled a predetermined time period after the current time to provide predicted values and by determining manipulation quantities of at least a control effector in accordance with a difference between the predicted values and predetermined target values of the controlled object. A quantitative operation is carried out arithmetically identifying a process as a linear behavior, and a fuzzy inference or qualitative operation, including a fuzzy rule based on empirical knowledge, is carried out for simulating a process, wherein for input process information and current manipulation quantities to be maintained, both operations parallelly determine predicted values of control quantities. A process behavior determination is arithmetically carried out to determine whether the process linearly behaves (i.e. the normal state or the state dominant to statistic distribution) or not (i.e. the extreme transition state such as a transient response, or an indeterminate state) from the specified process information on the basis of a process behavior determination rule. As a result, a predicted value acquired by the quantitative operation is selected in response to a determination of a linear behavior, and a predicted value acquired by the fuzzy inference operation is selected in response to a determination of a non-linear behavior.

A knowledge processing system in which a grade representing a degree at which an event is satisfied or unsatisfied is obtained depending on a condition part represented in a form of a logical arithmetic expression including an expression of a fuzzy logic and on a grade of satisfaction of the condition part generates rules on assumption of unmeasurable events associated with states of the external field of the system so as to add the rules to the rules related to the unmeasurable events. Forecast of a value of a measurable event is more correctly achieved depending on grades of satisfaction of the unmeasurable events and grades of satisfaction of measurable events.
