A reflow furnace comprises: a carrier device to carry a printed circuit board with electronic components mounted thereon; a heating chamber to heat through an ambient gas the printed circuit board carried therein to solder the electronic components on a surface of the printed circuit board; and an ambient gas purification equipment including a retrieving device to retrieve a part of the ambient gas containing vaporized flux component when soldering, a heating device to heat the retrieved ambient gas to a desired temperature, an oxidation catalyst to burn the flux component contained in the heated ambient gas, and a returning device to return a high temperature gas after being burned to the heating chamber.

Reflow furnace

In the first buffering area provided between the inlet of the furnace and the heating chamber, the ambient gas is blown to the printed circuit board from the lower side of the carrier device, while the ambient gas is sucked in the upper side of the carrier device, thus the outside air is prevented from infiltrating and the ambient gas is prevented from flowing out. Furthermore, the flux is prevented from being attached to the printed circuit board, by installing the flux dropping prevention mechanism in the suction port of the ambient gas.

An optical component welding apparatus for welding together first and second optical components each having an optical axis and a contact surface. The apparatus includes an X--Y stage for fixing the first optical component and aligning the optical axis of the first optical component in an X-axis and Y-axis direction. A fixing disk has a plurality of apertures extending radially and intersecting one another at a center of the fixing disk with respect to the radial direction, and includes a clamp for fixing the second optical component in the center of the fixing disk with respect to the axial and radial directions thereof such that the contact surface of the second optical component faces the contact surface of the first optical component. A holding member has a plurality of apertures each formed in a position respectively corresponding to a position of one of the plurality of apertures of the fixing disk, and the holding member releasably holds the fixing disk and is adapted to carry the fixing disk for axial movement thereof in a Z-axis direction. A Z stage for moving the holding member in the Z-axis direction is provided for fitting the respective contact surfaces of the first and second optical components to each other, and laser emitting heads emit a laser beam through corresponding apertures of the fixing disk and holding member to weld the first and second optical components together at the respective fitted contact surfaces thereof, with the optical axes of the first and second optical components in alignment with each other.

A multi-axes stage including a table for mounting an optical component having a plurality of optical paths; and first and second actuators for vertically movably supporting the table, the actuators having a control device for adjusting the vertical movement of the table by each actuator separately, and for controlling the movement of the table in at least one of the rotating direction about the optical paths and the vertical direction.

Multi-axes stage

An optical fiber array includes a plurality of optical fibers which are arranged and fixed in a fiber array member. The optical fibers each have an end projecting from an end face of the fiber array member at substantially the same distance, and each have a lens formed at the end thereof. The optical fiber array is produced by arranging and fixing a plurality of optical fibers in the fiber array member such that each end of the optical fibers is projected from the end face of the fiber array member; forming a coating layer of a desired thickness over the end face of the fiber array member and portions of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member; collectively polishing the ends of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member, together with the coating layer, up to a predetermined position, thereby making the lengths of projections of the optical fibers substantially equal; and removing the coating layer and forming a lens at each end of the optical fibers.

Optical fiber array and a method of producing the same

A quartz-based optical fiber with a lens, wherein a lens shaped in a curved surface is directly formed on an end surface, and its manufacturing method are provided, the quartz-based optical fiber with a lens having a lens section formed by a projecting core shaped in a curved surface on the end surface, the lens section being produced by immersing the end surface section of the quartz-based optical fiber, which consists of a core and a clad having a composition in which the etching speed is higher than that of the core when a hydrofluoric acid solution is applied, in the hydrofluoric acid solution to cause a core shaped in a truncated cone to project from the end surface of said quartz-based optical fiber, then heating and melting the core shaped in the truncated cone and the vicinity thereof, thus changing the truncated cone shape into a curved surface shape.

Quartz-based optical fiber with a lens and its manufacturing method

A method for measuring the dimension of an optical connector, consisting of a step wherein an inspection ferrule provided with a single optical fiber is inserted in each pin hole in the sample ferrule and an optical fiber or fibers are inserted in the fiber inserting hole or holes, a step wherein the sample ferrule is located on a position measuring apparatus on the X or Y axis, a step wherein a light transmitting and receiving ferrule provided with a light transmitting and receiving fiber, which is installed on a Z-axis stage, is butted against the sample ferrule with a specific distance, a step wherein the sample ferrule is moved in the direction of the axis X or Y by the position measuring apparatus, thereby optically connecting the single optical fiber or one of the optical fibers to the light transmitting and receiving fiber, a step wherein the sample ferrule is moved in the direction of the axis X or Y by the position measuring apparatus and the light transmitting and receiving fiber is switched to the single optical fiber or other optical fiber, thereby measuring the position of each optical fiber of the sample ferrule and the inspection ferrules, and a step wherein the position of the center of each fiber inserting hole based on the pin holes of the sample ferrule is determined from the measurement results.

Method for measuring the dimensions of an optical connector

A method for inspecting axis dislocation of a multifiber connector provided with a plurality of fiber insertion holes into which optical fibers are inserted for inspecting axis dislocation of each of the fiber insertion holes based on an inspection light irradiated from a light source. A reference connector to be a reference in inspection and a sample connector to be inspected are positioned at predetermined positions, the inspection light irradiated from each of the fiber insertion holes is irradiated to a position detection sensor through an optical system, the position of the inspection light is detected on the light receiving surface of the position detection sensor, and then, an amount of axis dislocation of each of the fiber insertion holes of the sample connector corresponding to each of the fiber insertion holes of the reference connector is inspected based on the detected position of each of the fiber insertion holes.
