In a capacitor-compensation-type generator having a rotor wound with a field winding, a stator wound with an output winding adapted to cross flux generated by the field winding to output AC power, and an internal combustion engine that drives the rotor to rotate relative to the stator, there are equipped with an actuator that changes the engine speed and an actuator controller that controls operation of the actuator in accordance with a constant voltage operation mode in which the engine speed is controlled to a desired speed such that a detected output voltage becomes a desired voltage, or a constant frequency operation mode in which the detected engine speed is controlled to a predetermined speed such that frequency of AC power outputted from the output winding becomes a desired frequency, thereby enabling to output AC power at constant voltage or frequency.

Capacitor-compensation-type generator

The invention makes it possible to secure a maximum output within the capacity range of an electrical power source by preventing an output from being cut by a protective function of a converter at the time of a temporary overload. A bidirectional DC-DC converterfor stepping up a voltage of DC power supplied from a batteryis provided. A stepped-up DC power is converted to an AC power by an inverter-via a regulator-and is outputted to the load side. An input voltage Vof the regulator-is detected by a voltage detecting portionand is inputted into an output limit determining portion. The output limit determining portiondetermines an output voltage value for starting to limit an inverter output according to a distance from when the input voltage Vfell below a limit starting voltage value Vlim to a limit voltage value Va. An inverter driving portionlimits an output by switching FETs in the inverterin accordance with this output voltage value. When a temporary overload is eliminated, then the output recovers to a maximum value.

Power unit

A first primary winding Nof a transformeris connected with a commercial power sourcevia a transistor Q, and a second primary winding Nof the transformeris connected with a backup batteryvia a transistor Q. An electric power on the second primary winding Nis output for a controlling apparatus. When a voltage of the commercial power sourceis larger than a predetermined value, a backup stopping circuitturns off a LEDand stops the transistor Q. The second primary winding Nis connected with input terminalsas a power source for charging a battery. While the transistor Qis stopped, an electric power for the battery is output from the second primary winding N. Since the LEDturns on at the time of electric power breakdown, the electric power for the battery is stopped.

Direct current stabilizing power source apparatus

A cogeneration system that is operated in system connection is disconnected from the system and operated independently at a power failure of the system. A power generatordriven by an engine E is connected to a system. A water-cooling devicerecovers exhaust heat of the engine E. When an operating switchis switched, to its independent operation mode for an independent operation apart from the system, the upper limit of the target rotation speed Ntgt of an electronic governoris increased over that at system connection operation, thereby the engine speed can be increased, and the maximum output point of the power generatoris increased for operation. When a power failure of the systemis detected by a power failure detecting unit, an operation mode judging unitoutputs a judgment result similar to that at the moment when the independent operation mode is instructed and increases the upper limit of the target engine speed Ntgt, and turns off a connection switchto disconnect the system connection.

Cogeneration apparatus

This invention realizes control without using a current-detecting element to prevent over current from flowing into a switching element of a switching converter in response to an input primary voltage from a small-capacity DC power source. The switching converter includes an FETthat turns the input primary voltage from the DC power sourceon and off, and a choke coilthat is charged or discharged according to turning on/off of this FET. A driverdrives the FET so that an output voltage detected by an output voltage detectoris converged to a target voltage. A means for calculating a current I that flows into the FETbased on a duty ratio of the input primary voltage and the FETand the inductance of the choke coil. The driverdrives the FETat a duty ratio set so as to prevent the estimated current value I from exceeding a permissible current value or stops driving when the estimated current value I is equal to or more than the permissible current value.

The present invention provides a control power supply capable of stably operating to output a desired voltage as electric power, even when the input voltage thereof varies over a wide range. A power supply includes a rectification circuitfor rectifying the AC output from a power generatorand a non-insulation type DC/DC converterfor stepping down the DC output from the rectification circuit. A self-excited oscillation type converter (RCC)is provided at the following stage of the non-insulation type DC/DC converter. The input voltage which has been stepped down by the converteris input to the primary side of the RCC, and the RCCstably operates with the input voltage which varies largely to supply, from its secondary side, a power supply to an ECUor the like.

Rectifying elements are connected in parallel with switching elements-through-in a switching sectionfor the lower voltage side and rectifying elements are connected in parallel with switching elements-through-in a switching sectionfor the higher voltage side. An LC resonant circuitis provided between the winding wire-for the high-voltage side in the transformerand the switching sectionfor the higher voltage side; currents which flows on the primary side and the secondary side is changed into a sinusoidal one; and switching is executed in the vicinity of the zero crossing points of the currents.

Two-way DC-DC converter

An N-channel MOS transistor is used to configure a DC&#x2014;DC converter having good characteristics without providing a particular voltage circuit which outputs a voltage higher than an input voltage. An N-channel MOS transistorand a choke coilare connected in series between a negative side of a direct-current power supply and a negative side of the output capacitor. A PWM circuitapplies pulse signals to a gate of the MOS transistorbased on the input voltage divided by the capacitorsand. The pulse signal of the PWM circuitis formed by the voltage corresponding to the output voltage of the output capacitor, and the pulse signal is inputted to the gate of the N-channel MOS transistorthrough a photocoupler

Step-down DC&#x2014;DC converter

An engine generator, sufficiently meeting a demand for a simple configuration and easy control, is provided. The output of a generatorconnected to an engineis output through a rectifier circuitand an inverter. The generatoris a dual-purpose generator both for a generator function and for an electric motor function, and is driven by a drive inverter as an engine starting electric motor. A DC&#x2014;DC converteris provided between the output side of the rectifier circuitand the output terminal of a battery. The generatoris driven as an engine starting electric motor, using the batteryas a power supply, when the engine is started.

Engine generator

A plurality of control power sources of voltage specifications different from one another are constructed. A generator output converted by a converter into a DC current is converted by an inverter into an AC current of a predetermined frequency. The generation output is rectified by second rectifier circuits and a capacitor and is then input to an RCC. The RCC constitutes a self-excited oscillation circuit, energy is stored into a transformer in an ON time of a transistor corresponding to an oscillation frequency thereof, and the energy is transferred to a secondary side in an OFF time. In the secondary side of the RCC, windings are formed corresponding to the number of required power sources. One group of windings forms both positive and negative power sources of a control power source, and another group of windings forms a power source for an FET driver.

Inverter controlled generator apparatus

A multiplex connection inverter apparatus is provided having two separate inverters connected to each other for declining current ripples which may be generated when the superposing of the alternating current outputs with their carrier signal components held in phase with each other. The alternating current outputs of the two inverters are set opposite in the phase while their carrier signal components are in phase with each other. For connecting in parallel, the positive port of one of the two inverters is connected to the negative port of the other inverter to constitute one of two output terminals while the negative port of the one inverter is connected to the positive port of the other inverter to constitute the other output terminal. For connecting in series, the negative ports of the two inverters are connected to each other while the positive ports of the same are assigned as two output ports.

Multiplex connection inverter apparatus

An electronic engine-governor control is carried out using no arithmetic tables and thus relieving a load to the CPU. A throttle opening is controlled with a control quantity to suppress a difference between the actual revolutions and the target. Calculator A is provided for calculating the difference D between the current revolutions and the target Ne(tgt). The difference D is corrected with an adjustment A based on a difference between the current revolutions Ne(0) and the previous revolutions Ne(&minus;1)and an adjustment B based on a difference between the previous revolutions Ne(&minus;1) and the revolutions before previous revolutions Ne(&minus;2). Calculator B is provided for calculating an adjustment E in relation to a load from the throttle opening &thgr;TH(0) and the target Ne(tgt). Calculator C is provided for calculating D/E, the throttle controlling signal P&thgr;TH.

Engine revolution controlling apparatus

The throttle opening setting value provided from a throttle controller may exceed the actual controllable range of the throttle opening. The value stored in an output voltage setter is read out in response to its throttle opening setting value and transferred to a correction signal generator . The generator supplies a correction signal determined by the output voltage setting to a modulator . PWM signal is transferred to an inverter for determining the output voltage. When receiving the opening setting value indicative of overloading, the output voltage setter releases a smaller value to decrease the output of the generator.

The present invention provides an engine generator which is small in the size but high in the efficiency of power generation and a controller for the engine generator. The present invention is implemented by a power generator G driven by an engine E, a starter motor M for cranking the engine E, and a controller for supplying various electric loads including the starter motor M with a driving voltage which depends on the power released from the generator G and a battery
