A heating device is provided. The heating device includes a heating unit, heating a member to be heated, which is transported, and a contact portion of the heating unit contacting with the member to be heated; a heat pipe, having a first end and a second end opposite to the first end in a widthwise direction, and contacting with a portion of the heating unit different from the contact portion so as to extend in the widthwise direction crossing a transport direction of the member to be heated; a rotating body, rotating so as to press the member to be heated; and a power input unit, having a gear disposed on a second end side of the heat pipe and inputting a rotational force at least to the rotating body. The first end of the heat pipe has a thickness smaller than that of the second end.

A heating device includes: a heater including plural heating portions that generate different amounts of heat in a width direction that crosses a transport direction in which a heating object is transported; and plural temperature equalization members that are disposed on the heater and extend in the width direction with an interval provided therebetween in the transport direction, the plural temperature equalization members equalizing a temperature of the heater in the width direction. One of the plural temperature equalization members has a length greater than or equal to a width of a maximum passing region of the heater through which the heating object passes when the heating object has a maximum width. A remaining one of the plural temperature equalization members has a length less than the length of the one of the plural temperature equalization members.

The transport belt rotates together with the rotating unit while nipping a heated member together with the rotating unit so as to transport the heated member. The heater has a contact surface in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the transport belt and a non-contact surface not in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the transport belt, and generates heat so as to heat the heated member via the transport belt. The heat pipe is disposed in an oblique direction relative to a belt width direction of the transport belt such that the heat pipe is in contact with the non-contact surface of the heater, and transfers heat in the oblique direction in accordance with a function of a working fluid enclosed inside the heat pipe.

A fixing device includes a rotatable fixing belt; a contact portion that comes into contact with an inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt in a width direction; a holding portion disposed opposite the inner peripheral surface to guide and hold the fixing belt; a pressing unit that presses the fixing belt against the contact portion; a protrusion disposed at a portion of the holding portion upstream of the contact portion in a rotation direction of the fixing belt to come into contact with the inner peripheral surface in the width direction; a gap forming portion that forms a gap at a portion of the holding portion between the protrusion and the contact portion, the gap extending in the width direction of the fixing belt without allowing the fixing belt to come into contact with the holding portion; and a lubricant applied to the inner peripheral surface.

There is provided a drying device. A drying unit is configured to dry a recording medium having an image formed thereon by an image forming unit. A detection unit is configured to detect a moisture content ratio of a print part having predetermined density and size and formed on the recording medium and a moisture content ratio of a blank part, which is a region of the recording medium on which an image is not formed, before the recording medium having the image formed thereon is conveyed to the drying unit by a conveyance unit. A control unit is configured to control at least one of a drying strength of the drying unit and a conveying speed of the conveyance unit on the basis of the moisture content ratio of the print part and the moisture content ratio of the blank part.
