A side airbag device includes an inflator; and a bag-shaped airbag inflatable and deployable in response to a gas upon activation of the inflator. The airbag includes a torso protection portion inflatable and deployable in a space beside a torso of the occupant, a support portion provided on a console box side of the torso protection portion and configured to be pushed onto a top surface of the console box in an inflated and deployed state, and a hip protection portion inflatable and deployable between a hip of the occupant and a lateral portion of the console box. The support portion and the hip protection portion are defined by a continuous chamber. The inflator is positioned from above to below the support portion in a side view of the vehicle. The airbag is mounted on a lateral portion of the vehicle seat via the inflator.

Side airbag device

Disclosed is an airbag apparatus which comprises: a first airbag configured to be deployed rearwardly from a steering wheel during an oblique collision of a vehicle; and a second airbag configured to be deployed rearwardly and upwardly from a position below a steering shaft during the oblique collision of the vehicle. The second airbag comprises an upward deployment portion capable of, in its deployed state, extending upwardly via a lateral side of the steering shaft, wherein the upward deployment portion is disposed between a lateral portion of the first airbag in its deployed state and an instrument panel.

Airbag apparatus

A seat is arranged in front of a back door. An airbag is configured to inflate into a space between the seat and the back door in a rear collision of a vehicle. Herein, when a lower frame portion of a headrest support structure body receives a rearward load in the rear collision of the vehicle, an upper frame portion of the headrest support structure body is moved forwardly around a rotational point of connecting members which pivotally connect an upper portion of the headrest support structure body to the vehicle-body side wall. Accordingly, a headrest attached to the upper frame portion is moved forwardly so that the space between the headrest and the back door can be expanded longitudinally and the passenger's head portion can be supported securely.

Rear structure of vehicle

There is provided a slant face at an upper portion of a seatbelt anchor. The slant face is formed in such a manner that its lower portion is located inward. There is provided an uneven portion that is formed near an upper edge portion of the seatbelt anchor so as to overhang. Accordingly, the curtain airbag can be prevented from catching on the seatbelt anchor even if the curtain airbag inflates downward contacting the inner face of the center pillar during its inflation.

A middle pillar trim and a rear pillar trim positioned to the front and rear of a side window glass are each harder than a roof trim. A curtain air bag fixed to a rear pillar is deployed in a vehicle cabin while a predetermined end edge of the front of the rear pillar trim in the widthwise direction of a vehicle is deformed toward the front. The separation distance of the curtain air bag in a stored state from the side window glass in the widthwise direction of the vehicle is L(L) in the portion of the curtain air bag along the rear edge of the side window glass, and Lin the portion of the curtain air bag at the upper edge of the side window glass near the middle pillar trim, and the separation distance L(L) is smaller than the separation distance L

Rear structure of vehicle provided with curtain air bag apparatus

A structure of a rear portion of a vehicle furnished with a curtain airbag apparatus includes a rear pillar, a soft roof trim, a rear pillar trim harder than the roof trim, and a cover constituting part of the rear pillar trim and covering a specific area of a front face portion of the rear pillar trim. The curtain airbag apparatus includes a curtain airbag and an inflator for inflating and deploying the curtain airbag into the vehicle interior along side window glass. The cover of the rear pillar trim can easily be displaced frontward along an airbag deployment joint. When inflated, the curtain airbag fixed to a vehicle body along an upper edge and a rear edge of the side window glass in a retracted position deploys into the vehicle interior upon separating and displacing the cover of the rear pillar trim frontward from the other part thereof.

Structure of rear portion of vehicle furnished with curtain airbag apparatus

According to the inflation of the curtain, its tip portion moves away from the first window side and comes to engages with support portions. At the same time, a tether moves from the side of the window side to the support portions and comes to be positioned across the window portion. Thereby, the window portion can be properly covered by the curtain airbag.

Curtain airbag device

A rear window curtain airbag device comprises an airbag placed at the portion near the upper edge of the rear window, an inflator to inject gas for the airbag, and a connecting pipe to supply the gas injected from the inflator to the airbag. Accordingly, the passenger's protection can be further improved by properly preventing part of the passenger's body from getting out of the rear window when the vehicle having the rear window being located above the seat back is rolled over.

Airbag device for rollover countermeasure of vehicle

A vehicle rear structure with a curtain air bag device is provided which is capable of, when a predetermined condition is satisfied, effectively restraining a front upper end of a rear pillar trim from breaking and scattering, and spreading a curtain member properly. The air bag device includes a curtain member which is fixed to the body of a vehicle, inflates with a gas pressure supplied when the predetermined condition is satisfied, and spreads so as to cover the interior surface of a side window glass at least from a side end of a roof trim up to a predetermined lower position in the front surface of the rear pillar; a roof side trim is provided between the vicinity of the upper end of the side window glass and the roof trim, and a rear end of the roof side trim is disposed to overlap with the front upper end of the rear pillar trim; and the curtain member spreads from the inner in the vehicle width directions through the boundary part between the rear end of the roof side trim and the front upper end of the rear pillar trim toward a cabin space of the vehicle.

When the airbag portion is inflated, the tip portions of the curtain portion are moved downward and thereby the tension portions connected by the bands are pulled down to the position of the support pins as shown in FIG.B. Thus, the tension can be provided to the curtain portion at a portion between the support pins with the length V between the right-side tension portion and the left-side tension portion, which is shorter than the three-side length (X+Y+Z).
