An air valve assembly () includes a main housing () including a coupling flange () for coupling to a pipe, and an air valve () fluidly coupled to the main housing (). An actuator () is in fluid communication with the air valve () and a discharge tube (). A non-contact liquid level sensor () is located in an external housing coupled to the main housing (). The non-contact liquid level sensor () is in operative communication with the actuator ().

A gas purge valve (A-D) is provided within a fluid system, the valve being configured with one or more sensors (B) each for sensing and generating one or more signals indicative of parameters associated with the valve. The fluid system further comprises a power source and a transmitting system for transmitting signals from the sensors to a remote control station ().
