The present disclosure provides polyolefin compositions and films and method for producing such films. The polyolefin composition contains about 40 wt % to about 95 wt % of a BOCD polyethylene and about 10 wt % to about 60 wt % of a polypropylene, by weight of the polyolefin composition. The polyolefin composition has a 1% secant flexural modulus MD of greater than 250 MPa and a 1% secant flexural modulus TD of greater than 300 MPa, as determined for a layer of the polyolefin composition having a thickness of about 50 μm and a Dart Impact (Method A) of greater than 15 g/μm and an Elmendorf tear MD of greater than 7 g/μm, as determined for a film containing the polyolefin composition and having a thickness of about 90 μm.

Polyolefin compositions suitable for films

A composition comprising the reaction product of a polypropylene comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 6, a branching index (g') of at least 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 10 cN determined using an extensional rheometer at 190&#xb0; C.; and within the range from 0.01 to 3 wt % of at least one organic peroxide, by weight of the polypropylene and organic peroxide. Such hyperbranched polypropylenes are useful in films, foamed articles, and thermoformed articles.

Polypropylenes having balanced strain hardening, melt strength, and shear thinning

A method of melt blending a polypropylene and the melt blended polypropylene therefrom, comprising providing a base-polypropylene having a MFR of less than 15 g/10 min and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) within the range from 5 to 16, and comprising hindered phenol and phosphorous-type antioxidants, and within the range from 5 ppm to 4000 ppm of an alkyl radical scavenger relative to the total weight of the components to form a melt blended polypropylene; melt blending the melt blended polypropylene at a temperature of at least 210&#xb0; C.; and isolating a melt blended, melt blended polypropylene.

High melt strength polypropylene and extrusion process for preserving melt strength

A process for producing phenylstyrene comprises contacting benzene with hydrogen in the presence of a hydroalkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a hydroalkylation product comprising cyclohexylbenzene. At least part of the cyclohexylbenzene is then contacted with ethylbenzene in the presence of a transalkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a transalkylation product comprising cyclohexylethylbenzene and/or with ethylene in the presence of an alkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce an alkylation product comprising cyclohexylethylbenzene. At least part of the cyclohexylethylbenzene is then contacted with a dehydrogenation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a dehydrogenation product comprising phenylstyrene.

Preparation and use of phenylstyrene

Disclosed is an article comprising polymers and copolymers selected from the group consisting of poly(vinylbiphenyl), poly(vinylcyclohexylstyrene), substituted versions thereof, and blends thereof, the polymer or copolymer having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 100 kg/mole and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 100&#xb0; C. The polymers are desirably processed in the melted state at a temperature of at least 150&#xb0; C. to impart orientation and extensional strain hardening.

Poly(vinylbiphenyl) and poly(vinylcyclohexylstyrene) polymers and articles therefrom

A process to form a polypropylene composition comprising combining at a temperature within a range from 190&#xb0; C. to 320&#xb0; C. a polypropylene resin and within the range from 0.01 wt % to 3 wt % of at least one organic peroxide, by weight of the polypropylene composition and within a range from 100 to 4000 ppm each of phosphorous- and hindered phenol antioxidants; the polypropylene resin comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 6, a branching index (g') of at least 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 10 cN determined using an extensional rheometer at 190&#xb0; C. The resulting polypropylene composition comprises at least 50 mol % propylene and has a peak extensional viscosity of greater than 500 kPa&#xb7;s at a strain rate of 0.01 sec(190&#xb0; C.) and a melt strength of at least 40 determined using an extensional rheometer at 190&#xb0;.

Extrusion of polypropylenes with organic peroxides

An impact copolymer comprising a polypropylene comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 10, a branching index (g') of less than 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 40 cN, and an elastomer. Also disclosed is a method of making an impact copolymer composition comprising melt-blending the components, sequentially or simultaneously a polypropylene resin comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 6, a branching index (g&#x2032;) of at least 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 10 cN determined using an extensional rheometer at 190&#xb0; C.; and within the range from 0.01 to 3 wt % of at least one organic peroxide; and an elastomer.

Propylene-based impact copolymers

Provided herein are various methods for forming alkylaromatic sulfonate compositions and blended alkylaromatic sulfonate compositions, and such compositions themselves. The methods of various embodiments include obtaining a C-Chydrocarbon mixture, optionally treating the mixture to concentrate the mixture in sulfonatable aromatics, and sulfonating the mixture to form the alkylaromatic sulfonates. The mixture or treated mixture may be blended with linear alkyl benzene (LAB) compositions and sulfonated, and/or the alkylaryl sulfonates may be blended with linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) compositions, to form the blended alkylaromatic sulfonates of some embodiments. These compositions and processes for making them may be tailored to serve a variety of end uses, such as detergents in cleaning solutions or for enhanced oil recovery operations, and/or as low foaming and/or hydrotropic additives in detergent formulations, and the like.

Alkylaromatic sulfonate compositions from mixed hydrocarbons

Processes for producing impact copolymers are provided. Ethylene and at least one comonomer can be polymerized in the presence of one or more catalysts, polypropylene particles, and an inert solvent to produce an impact copolymer. The polypropylene particles can have a weight average particle size along the longest cross-sectional length thereof of about 0.05 mm to about 5 mm and a pore volume of less than 80%. The inert solvent can be present in a volume amount of about 0.1 to about 2 times the pore volume of the polypropylene particles.

Incipient wetness method to enhance productivity of supported Ziegler-Natta catalysts

Ethylene and at least one copolymer can be polymerized in the presence of one or more catalysts, polypropylene particles, and one or more halocarbon compounds to produce an impact copolymer that includes the polypropylene particles and an ethylene copolymer.
