Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for indication of one or more symbol structures for one or multiple subsets of a set of symbols. The one or more symbol structures may include one or more guard interval (GI)-based symbol formats that are to be applied to one or more of the subsets of symbols. Different symbol formats may be indicated for different subsets of symbols, and a first subset of symbols may use a GI-based symbol format and a second subset of symbols may use a CP-based or GI-based symbol format. A base station may transmit control signaling to a user equipment to indicate one or more symbol structures for the one or more subsets of symbols, and the UE and the base station may communicate data in one or more slots in accordance with the indicated symbol structures based on the control signaling.

Techniques for signaling symbol format for guard interval based waveforms

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support local light biasing for silicon photomultiplier (SiPM)-based photodetectors used in optical wireless communication (OWC). In a first aspect, a photodetector may include a silicon photomultipier (SiPM) having an input sensor configured to detect a light signal and an output interface configured to produce an output signal proportional to an intensity of the light signal detected at the input sensor, and a controllable light source positioned to emit a biasing light signal within a field of view of the input sensor, wherein the controllable light source is configured to emit the biasing light signal within a sensitivity range of the SiPM. When such photodetector is implemented in an OWC receiver, an analysis of the output signal allows the OWC receiver to adjust the biasing light at the controllable light source. Local light biasing for silicon photomultiplier-based optical wireless communication

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A transmitting device may determine a power amplifier operating mode associated with non-linear distortion of an input waveform for a power amplifier, where the power amplifier operating mode may be from a set of two or more power amplifier operating modes each associated with respective amounts of the non-linear distortion. The transmitting device may transmit a set of reference signals associated with estimation of a wireless channel for a transmission, and the transmitting device may further transmit an additional set of reference signals associated with non-linear distortion mitigation for the transmission. In some examples, a resource density of the additional set of reference signals may be based on the power amplifier operating mode. In some examples, the transmitting device may transmit an indication of the power amplifier operating mode, the resource density, or both, to a receiving device.

Demodulation reference signal sequence signaling for single carrier waveforms with a nonlinear power amplify in higher bands

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity via an optical wireless communication link, a first optical wireless signal using photodetectors positioned on a photodetector panel of the UE. The photodetector panel may include a hole around which the photodetectors are positioned and may be located a first distance from a curved optical device of the UE via which the first optical wireless signal is received. The UE may transmit, to the network entity via the optical wireless communication link, a second optical wireless signal using a light source of the UE that is located a second distance from the curved optical device via which the second optical wireless signal is transmitted. The second optical wireless signal may pass through the hole in the photodetector panel based on the second distance being greater than the first distance.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration that indicates, within each symbol of a plurality of symbols, an extra guard interval (GI) before data and a tail GI after the data. The UE may decode first data within a first symbol of the plurality of symbols at a first time location that is based at least in part on the extra GI and the tail GI within the first symbol. The UE may decode second data within a second symbol of the plurality of symbols at a second time location that is based at least in part on the tail GI within the second symbol. A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling from a scheduling device such as a base station which indicates a configuration for decoding control channel information at the UE using a single discrete transform process. In such cases, the configuration may be for decoding control channel information such as downlink control information (DCI) that is time multiplexed with data channel information in one or more symbols of a single carrier waveform. Using the configuration, the UE may decode the control channel information and the data channel information using the discrete transform process.

Control and data channel processing for higher bands

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may generate a orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) waveform for transmission to a second wireless device. Generation of an OTFS waveform may include mapping information samples to a delay-Doppler resource grid having a set of delay values and a set of Doppler values. A channel estimation block may occupy one or more rows of the delay-Doppler grid. When mapping information samples to the delay-Doppler grid, the transmitting device may first map information samples in the delay dimension (e.g., first map all of the symbols in one column of the delay-Doppler grid before mapping information samples into a second column). Such a mapping scheme may reduce the distance from any given information sample to the channel estimation block.

Techniques for rate matching order for orthogonal time frequency space multiplexing

In an aspect, an OWC transmitter transmits, to an OWC receiver, a first DC bias parameter, receives, from the OWC receiver, DC bias feedback based on a measurement associated with an OWC link between the OWC transmitter and the OWC receiver, and transmits an OWC signal with a second DC bias parameter that is based on the DC bias feedback from the OWC receiver. Direct current (DC) bias and alternating current (AC) power selection signaling for optical wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive first control signaling identifying a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) pattern that may be uniformly distributed in a time domain and a frequency domain. The DMRS pattern may include a first set of resource elements for the DMRS, a second set of resource elements for guard tones adjacent to and greater in frequency than the first set of resource elements, and a third set of resource elements for guard tones adjacent to and lower in frequency than the first set of resource elements. The UE may receive second control signaling that schedules a data signal to be communicated between the UE and a network node in a set of time-frequency resources. The UE may communicate the data signal according to the second control signaling and the DMRS according to the DMRS pattern.

Orthogonal time frequency space precoding of control channel and shared channel communications

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) precoding in high-Doppler scenarios. In some aspects, communicating devices may support different precodings for different portions of a signal, such as for a DMRS portion and an information portion. For example, a device may receive a signal including an orthogonal time-frequency space (OTFS) precoded first waveform portion carrying DMRS symbols and an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) precoded second waveform portion carrying information symbols. The device may transform the OTFS precoded DMRS symbols from a time-frequency domain to a delay-Doppler domain, may use the DMRS symbols to estimate a delay-Doppler channel, and may use the delay-Doppler channel estimate to measure an inter-carrier interference (ICI). The receiving device may use the ICI measurement to receive the information symbols carried by the OFDM precoded second waveform portion.

Demodulation reference signal precoding in high-doppler scenarios

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For example, a wireless device may support physical broadcast channel (PBCH) precoding in high-doppler scenarios. In some cases, a base station may generate a synchronization signal block (SSB) including synchronization signals and PBCH signaling. The base station may transmit, to a UE, the PBCH signaling in accordance with an orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) precoding and the synchronization signals in accordance with a non-OTFS precoding. The UE may monitor for the SSB and receive the PBCH signaling in accordance with the OTFS precoding and the synchronization signals in accordance with a non-OTFS precoding. The UE may establish or modify a connection with the base station according to the PBCH signaling.

Physical broadcast channel precoding in high-doppler scenarios

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first network node may apply an orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) precoding to a plurality of tracking reference signal (TRS) resource samples allocated in a delay-Doppler domain to obtain a plurality of TRS symbols with the OTFS precoding. The first network node may transmit, to a second network node, a TRS in which the plurality of TRS symbols with the OTFS precoding have a uniform spacing in a time domain.
