A drug delivery device adapted to receive a cartridge and hold it in a mounted position is provided, comprising a housing, an expelling assembly, and a front-loaded cartridge holder assembly adapted to receive and hold a cartridge in a mounted state. The assembly comprises cartridge holding means actuatable between a receiving state and a holding state, as well as a user operated actuation sleeve being rotationally actuatable relative to the housing between a loading state and an operational state, such that the cartridge holding means is actuated from the receiving state to the holding state when the actuation sleeve is actuated from the loading state to the operational state. The actuation sleeve is configured to enclose at least a portion of a mounted cartridge and is provided with inspection means allowing at least a portion of an enclosed cartridge portion to be visually inspected.

The invention relates to a pre-filled injection device for apportioning set dose of a liquid drug. The housing of the pre-filled injection device internally supports a non-replaceable cartridge () having an hollow interior containing a liquid preservative containing drug and externally supporting a removable protective cap (). The piston rod drive system of the injection device comprises a piston rod abutting a plunger provided inside the cartridge. A needle cannula () having a distal part with a distal tip and an opposite proximal part and a lumen there between is insertable into the cartridge. A telescopically movable () shield movable from an extended position covering at least the distal tip of the needle cannula to a retracted position exposing at least the distal tip of the needle cannula is further provided. The telescopically movable shield carries a cleaning chamber () able to contain a quantum of the liquid preservative containing drug for cleaning at least the distal tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections. The quantum of the liquid preservative containing drug contained in the hollow interior of the cartridge is transferred to the cleaning chamber through the lumen of the needle cannula by moving the cartridge axially in relation to the plunger by use of a transfer assembly.

A drug delivery device () comprises a housing and an expelling assembly adapted to expel a dose of drug from a cartridge (). The expelling assembly comprises a drive spring () which in an energized state is adapted to drive the expelling assembly, a rotating component () adapted to rotate relative to an axis of rotation during expelling of a dose of drug, and user actuated release means () for releasing the drive spring to thereby expel a dose of drug. The device is provided with a brake element () being moveable in a plane generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation, the brake element being adapted to engage the rotating component such that during rotation thereof the brake element is moved back and forth, whereby the brake element provides a braking action on the rotating component.

A drug delivery device adapted to receive a cartridge and comprising a housing, an expelling assembly with a threaded piston rod, a threaded nut and a drive element arranged in non-rotational engagement with the piston rod, a drive coupling actuatable between a resetting state in which the piston rod can be moved proximally, and an operational state in which the drive element can drive the piston rod distally, wherein the drive element and the threaded nut are not moved axially relative to the housing when the drive coupling is actuated.
