A method and means for application of anode covering material (ACM) in an electrolysis cell for aluminium production where the cell being of Hall-H&#xe9;roult type with prebaked anodes. The cell contains a cathode pot with a rectangular footprint and a superstructure with a gas collecting hood that lays onto the top of the cathode pot. A floor construction at least substantially surrounds the cell at a level below the top of the cathode pot and ventilation openings provided with grates are arranged in the floor in the close vicinity to the cell. The superstructure's hood is provided with removable lids that are removed for giving access to the cell's anodes through openings. ACM is applied via a feed tube to cover the anodes and the deposit of ACM is supported by a shuttering.

Method and means for application of anode covering material (ACM) in an electrolysis cell of Hall-Heroult type for aluminium production

A method and a system distribute fluidizable materials from a reservoir of materials to one or more material receiving units. The distribution system has at least two hydraulic levels between the reservoir and the material receiving units. The system further includes a fluidizing element with good dynamic response properties. The system can be used for distribution of alumina and/or fluoride to feeding equipment in electrolysis cells with a reduced consumption of fluidizing gas.

Method and a system of distribution of fluidizable materials

The present invention concerns a method and device for reducing emissions of process gases from Hall-H&eacute;roult cells to the ambient air. The cells comprise an anode superstructure ( ) with covers which can be opened for access to the cell's anodes, among other things. The anode superstructure comprises an extraction system for the removal of process gases, which extraction system is adjusted to remove a standised quantity of process gases during normal operation of the cell. The extraction system is designed so that an increased quantity of process gases is removed when the covers of the anode superstructure are opened. One embodiment of the present invention includes a vertical partition wall ( &prime;) which is located inside the anode superstructure and contributes to an improved flow pattern in the anode superstructure.

Method and an arrangement for filing a silo

A de-aeration device for the separation of solid particles from a gas includes a container with an inlet for the supply of the gas contaminated with particles and an outlet for the purified gas. The cross-section of the container is dimensioned in such a way that the gas velocity does not exceed the carrying velocity of the particles. The gas flow is deflected at the inlet so that it flows mainly sideways in relation to the direction of through-flow of the container. The outlet of the container is provided with a filter cloth.

A separator for separating two or more materials of which one or more consist(s) of a particulate, fluidisable material such as aluminum oxide, from a material which can not be fluidised such as nails, tools, coke, pieces of wood, and lumps of oxide. The separator comprises a chamber (1') in which are located one or more screens (7, 9) and one or more fluidising/transport channels (8, 10) underneath, at angles established in advance. The separator has no movable parts.
