Provided is a downhole tool, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The downhole tool, in one aspect, includes a latch collet including a collet body, the collet body having a plurality of collet fingers, and a mandrel positioned within the collet body. The downhole tool, according to this aspect, further includes a packer assembly positioned axially between the collet body and the mandrel, the packer assembly configured to move from a radially retracted state when the mandrel and collet body are being run-in-hole to a radially extended state when the collet body has engaged with a latching profile and weight is placed down upon the packer assembly.

Provided is a latch collet, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The latch collet, in one aspect, includes a collet body, the collet body having a plurality of collet fingers. The latch collet, according to this aspect, further includes a torque button located on a radial exterior of each of the plurality of collet fingers, wherein a width (W) of each of the torque buttons is within 10% of each other.

The downhole tool, in one aspect, includes a whipstock assembly, a packer assembly removably coupled to the to the whipstock assembly, and an anchor assembly coupled to the packer assembly. The downhole tool, according to this aspect, further includes a completion assembly coupled to the anchor assembly, the whipstock assembly, packer assembly, anchor assembly and the completion assembly configured to be run-in-hole in a single trip.

Provided is a latch collet, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The latch collet, in one aspect, includes a collet body, the collet body having a plurality of collet fingers. The latch collet, according to this aspect, further includes a collet prop button located on a radial interior of each of the plurality of collet fingers, the collet prop button configured to engage with a profile of a mandrel for running the latch collet downhole, and configured to be propped radially outward by the mandrel to cause torque buttons located on a radial exterior of each of the plurality of fingers to remain engaged with associated alignment profiles in a latch coupling when positioned at an acceptable position downhole.

Provided is a latch coupling, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The latch coupling, in one aspect, includes a housing having an outside diameter (OD) and an inside diameter (ID). The latch coupling, according to this aspect, further includes a plurality of axial alignment slots located along the inside diameter (ID) of the housing, wherein a width (W) of each of the plurality of axial alignment slots is within 10% of each other.

Provided is a y-block, a multilateral junction, and a method for forming a well system. The y-block, in one aspect, includes a housing having a first end and a second opposing end, and a single first bore extending into the housing from the first end, the single first bore defining a first centerline. The y-block according to this aspect further includes second and third separate bores extending into the housing and branching off from the single first bore, the second bore defining a second centerline and the third bore defining a third centerline, wherein the second and third centerlines are angled relative to one another.

Provided is a two-part drilling and running tool, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The two-part drilling and running tool, in one aspect, includes a conveyance, a smaller assembly coupled to an end of the conveyance, and a larger bit assembly slidably coupled to the conveyance, the smaller assembly and larger bit assembly configured to slidingly engage one another downhole to form a combined bit assembly. The two-part drilling and running tool, according to this aspect, further includes a one way mechanism coupled between the smaller assembly and the larger bit assembly, the one way mechanism configured to allow the smaller assembly and larger bit assembly to axially slide in one direction relative to one another and prevent the smaller assembly and larger bit assembly from axially sliding in an opposite direction relative to one another.

Provided, in one aspect, is an anchor for use with a downhole tool in a wellbore. The anchor, according to this aspect, may include a base pipe; and one or more expandable chambers positioned radially about the base pipe. The one or more expandable chambers may, in some aspects, be configured to move from a first collapsed state to a second activated state; and the one or more expandable chambers may be operable to handle at least 20.7 Bar of internal pressure in the second activated state to engage a wall of a wellbore.

Provided is a downhole tool, a y-block, a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The downhole tool, in one aspect, includes a bottom hole assembly (BHA) having an uphole end and a downhole end, and a shroud positioned around and proximate the downhole end of the BHA, the shroud operable to slide relative to the BHA. The downhole tool, in this aspect, may further include one or more shear features coupling the shroud to the downhole end of the BHA.

The multilateral leg bore, in one aspect, includes a unitary housing having a first end and a second opposing end defining a length (L). In accordance with this aspect, the multilateral junction includes three or more bores formed in the housing and extending along the length (L).

The buoyant guide sub, in one aspect, includes a hollow tubular structure, the hollow tubular structure including one or more tubular walls. Provided, in one aspect, is a well system and a method for forming a well system. The well system, in one aspect, includes a main wellbore, the main wellbore having a main wellbore open hole section, and a lateral wellbore extending from the main wellbore, the lateral wellbore having a lateral wellbore open hole section. The well system, according to this aspect, further includes a main bore completion located within the main wellbore and a lateral bore completion located within the lateral wellbore, and a multilateral junction positioned at an intersection between the main wellbore open hole section of the main wellbore and the lateral wellbore open hole section of the lateral wellbore, the multilateral junction including a main bore leg forming a first pressure tight seal with the main bore completion and a lateral bore leg forming a second pressure tight seal with the lateral bore completion such that the main bore completion and the lateral bore completion are hydraulically isolated from one another.

A multilateral junction comprising a y-block and a port seal member. The y-block comprises a main bore, a lateral bore, and lateral port formed in the y-block. The port seal member is integrated within the main bore and has at least one of an opened, closed, and choked position. The multilateral junction also includes one or more gaskets configured to hydraulically isolate the lateral bore when the port seal member is in a closed position. The multilateral junction may further include a controller coupled to the port seal member for performing at least one of an opening, closing, and choking operation on the port seal member. The y-block is a single, machined object with the main bore and the lateral bore formed therein. The multilateral junction is useful in applications that require pressure tight seals and minimal restriction of the internal diameter of a main bore.

Provided is a multilateral junction (MLT), a well system, and a method for forming a well system. The MLT, in one aspect, includes a y-block having a housing with a single first bore and second and third bores extending therein, the second and third bores defining second and third centerlines. The MLT, in this aspect, further includes a mainbore leg having a first mainbore leg end coupled to the second bore and a second opposing mainbore leg end, and a lateral bore leg having a first lateral bore leg end coupled to the third bore and a second opposing lateral bore leg end. In this aspect, the mainbore leg and the lateral bore leg are twisted with respect to the second and third bore such that a first plane taken through centerlines of the second opposing mainbore leg end and the second opposing lateral bore leg end is angled.

Methods and apparatus for installing a deflector in a primary wellbore and confirming lateral wellbore access. The hydraulic retrieving tool is coupled to the interior of the deflector and introduced into the primary wellbore. The hydraulic retrieving tool comprises a bullnose, a plurality of retractable deflective pads, and a retractable dog. The deflector comprises a deflection surface. The hydraulic retrieving tool is decoupled from the interior of the deflector at a depth in the primary wellbore by retracting the dog and the plurality of deflective pads. The hydraulic retrieving tool is removed from the interior of the deflector. The dog and the plurality of deflective pads on the hydraulic retrieving tool are expanded when the hydraulic retrieving tool is removed from the interior of the deflector. The hydraulic retrieving tool drifts at least a portion of the deflection surface to determine if there is lateral wellbore access.
