This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for using presence detection in order to switch between power modes of a display device. For instance, the display device may operate in a first power mode by deactivating a display. While operating in the first power mode, the display device may use a sensor to detect a presence of a possible object. The display device may then switch to a second power mode in order to verify that the possible object is an actual object. In response, the display device may switch to a third power mode by at least activating the display and presenting a user interface using the display. The display device may then receive an interaction. In response, the display device may switch to a fourth power mode by at least presenting content.

Presence-detection modes for display devices

A device comprises a display and a plurality of radars. For example, the radars may be arranged around a perimeter of the device, with their respective fields of view directed toward the display. Output from the radar is processed to generate input frames. The input frames are then processed to determine touch data indicative of a position with respect to the display. The input frames may be processed to determine the touch data using a trained machine learning module or a geometric estimation module. For example, the trained machine learning module may accept input frames comprising one or more of range fast-Fourier transform (FFT) data or doppler FFT data and provide as output the touch data.

System for touch interaction with non-touchscreen display

Technologies for temperature gain control on radar units are described. A method includes determining a first value for an internal operating temperature corresponding to a steady-state of a radar unit. The method further includes causing the radar unit to operate in a first mode that heats the radar unit. The method further includes obtaining a second value for the internal operating temperature at a first time in the first mode and determining a third value indicating a measurement bias associated with the radar unit. The method further includes determining a fourth value using the second value and the third value. The fourth value indicates an updated internal operating temperature of the radar unit. The method further includes determining that the fourth value satisfies a threshold temperature condition corresponding to the first value. The method further includes causing the radar unit to stop operating in the first mode.

A system and method for network channel selection is provided. A device includes WIFI, ZIGBEE, and BLUETOOTH communication controllers. The device's processor is configured to determine, using the communication controllers, a WIFI channel designated for communications and a first set of ZIGBEE channels designated for communications. The processor is configured to determine that a number of available BLUETOOTH channels that do not overlap the WIFI channel or any in-use ZIGBEE channels is less than a threshold number of BLUETOOTH channels required for communication using a BLUETOOTH protocol. The processor then determines the WIFI channel has a minimum duty cycle from among duty cycles of the WIFI channel and each ZIGBEE channel, determines a first BLUETOOTH channel that at least partially overlaps the WIFI channel, and causes the BLUETOOTH communication controller to transmit data using the first BLUETOOTH channel.

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for disambiguating phase in radar-based waveforms. A method may include determining a first waveform, the first waveform associated with a first subcarrier and a second subcarrier in a frequency domain, and the first waveform based on radar measurements. The method may include determining a motion signal, and determining, based on the first subcarrier, the second subcarrier, a subcarrier spacing of the subcarriers, and the motion signal, a phase change differential value between the first subcarrier and the second subcarrier. The method may include generating, based on the phase change differential value, a second waveform, and generating a third waveform in the time domain by applying the second waveform to the first waveform.

Technologies for detecting touch events on, or hover events above, a surface of an electronic device using radar units instead of integrated capacitive touch sensing technologies, are described. An electronic device includes a display located along a first plane. The electronic further includes a first radar unit coupled to the display. The first radar unit is oriented and comprises a first field-of-view (FoV) along a portion of the first plane. The electronic device further includes a processor coupled to the first radar unit. From the first radar unit, the processor receives first data that indicates a first object detection corresponding to a first location. The processor further determines, using the first data, a touch event associated with the display.

A computer-implemented method includes receiving, from an application framework, a set of tasks, a throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and a set of active connections for a radio network comprising a Wi-Fi radio and a Zigbee radio. The computer-implemented method also includes determining, using the set of tasks, the throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and the set of active connections, a target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle and setting the Wi-Fi radio to operate at the target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle. The computer-implemented method further includes monitoring, using a monitoring unit, air time statistics associated with the Wi-Fi radio, determining, using the air time statistics, a measured Wi-Fi duty cycle, and adjusting Wi-Fi radio settings to decrease a difference between the target Wi-Fi duty cycle and the measured Wi-Fi duty cycle.

Devices in the group may be wirelessly connected via personal area network (PAN) to other devices, such as speakers. An election process is used to select a primary device. The primary device may receive content from an external source, such as a server, and distribute that content to other devices within the group via the WLAN. The parameters of that distribution, such as a content rate indicative of a bitrate of the content, transfer limit rate, and so forth are configured to preserve fidelity of the presentation while minimizing interruptions to presentation that may result due to frequency contention between the WLAN and the PAN, traffic on the WLAN, and so forth.

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for enhanced near-field communications for wireless devices. A processor of a first device may send a first Bluetooth communication at a first signal strength. The processor may receive a first indication of activity associated with a near field communication (NFC) device of the first device, wherein the processor and the NFC device are collocated on the first device. The processor may determine a second signal strength associated with a second Bluetooth communication, the second signal strength less than the first signal strength. The processor may receive a second indication that the activity associated with the NFC device has concluded. The processor may decrease a power supplied to the NFC device.

Enhanced near-field communications for wireless devices

Technologies directed to digital active interference cancellation (d-AIC) for full duplex transmit-receive (TX-RX) concurrency. An integrated circuit can include first and second analog front-ends (AFE) and digital front-end (DFE) circuits and a digital AIC circuit that generates a scaled and delayed replica of a first quadrature (IQ) sample corresponding to first data transmitted by the first AFE circuit which is being coupled into the receiver as aggressor. The digital AIC circuit receives a second IQ sample from the second AFE circuit, the second IQ sample corresponding to second data being received by the second AFE circuit. The digital AIC circuit subtracts the scaled and delayed replica of the first IQ sample from the second IQ sample to obtain a third IQ sample and sends the third IQ sample to the second DFE circuit. Third IQ sample is the desired signal when d-AIC cancels the self-interference.

Digital active interference cancellation for full duplex transmit-receive (TX-RX) concurrency

An electronic device includes a first communication controller and a second communication controller. The first and second communication controller are configured to communicate wirelessly using respective antennas. The electronic device includes a processor that is configured to execute instructions for determining that the first controller is transmitting a first radio frequency signal, and setting a transmit power of the first controller to a first transmit power value. The processor is configured to execute instructions for determining a duty cycle of the first controller is greater than a packet loss threshold associated with the second controller, and setting the transmit power of the first controller to a second transmit power value. The second transmit power value is less than the first transmit power value.

Network communications for device with co-located radio transmitters and receivers

A system includes a media distribution device including a first network interface, a second network interface, and a first processor. The first processor configures the first network interface to use a first communication network, and broadcasts, using the first communication network, audio data. The system includes a media device including a third network interface, a fourth network interface, and a second processor. The second processor causes, using the third network interface, the media device to join the first communication network, receives, using the third network interface, a first portion of the audio data, processes the first portion of the audio data to generate first audio output, and transmits, using the fourth network interface, a control signal to the second network interface of the media distribution device. The control signal is configured to cause the first processor to modify an attribute of the audio data or stop broadcasting the audio data.

Media distribution between electronic devices for low-latency applications

Antenna structures and methods of operating the same are described. One apparatus includes a processing device that executes an active interference cancellation (AIC) algorithm and radio frequency front-end (RFFE) circuitry coupled to the processing device. The RFFE circuitry includes two RF couplers, a fixed-delay filter, and an interference compensation circuit part of an electrical path between the two RF couplers. The AIC algorithm is operable to control the interference compensation circuit to adjust a phase, an amplitude or both of a copy of a first RF signal transmitted on a first antenna to remove corresponding interference in a second RF signal received at a second antenna that is caused by the first RF signal. The processing device triggers a re-calibration in the AIC algorithm when the digital values, received from a power detector circuit, indicate a change in impedance that exceeds a threshold.
