A semipermeable composite membrane that reduces an environmental load, and a method of producing the semipermeable composite membrane. A semipermeable composite membrane includes, on a porous support, a semipermeable membrane containing a crosslinked polyamide and a cellulose nanofiber. A method of producing the semipermeable composite membrane includes obtaining a mixed solution containing the cellulose nanofiber, water, and an amine component, and obtaining the semipermeable composite membrane by making the mixed solution be in contact with the porous support, thereafter, causing a cross-linking reaction of the amine component in the mixed solution, with the amine component adhering to the porous support.

A group of reductive 2D materials (R2D) with extended reactive vacancies and a method for making the R2D with extended reactive vacancies are provided, especially the example of the reductive boron nitride (RBN). To create defects such as vacancies, boron nitride (BN) powders are milled at cryogenic temperatures. Vacancies are produced by milling, and the vacancies can be used to reduce various metal nanostructures on RBN. Due to the thermal stability of the RBN and the enhanced catalytic performance of metal nanostructures, RBN-metals can be used for different catalysts, including electrochemical catalysts and high temperature catalysts.

We report a method of preparation of highly elastic graphene oxide films, and their transformation into graphene oxide fibers and electrically conductive graphene fibers by spinning. Methods typically include: 1) oxidation of graphite to graphene oxide, 2) preparation of graphene oxide slurry with high solid contents and residues of sulfuric acid impurities. 3) preparation of large area films by bar-coating or dropcasting the graphene oxide dispersion and drying at low temperature. 4) spinning the graphene oxide film into a fiber, and 5) thermal or chemical reduction of the graphene oxide fiber into an electrically conductive graphene fiber. The resulting films and fiber have excellent mechanical properties, improved morphology as compared with current graphene oxide fibers, high electrical conductivity upon thermal reduction, and improved field emission properties.

The seal member includes a tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer (FEPM) and carbon nanofibers. The seal member has a number of cycles to fracture of 10 or more when subjected to a tension fatigue test at a temperature of 150&#xb0; C., a maximum tensile stress of 2 N/mm, and a frequency of 1 Hz. Sintered bodies of silicon carbide having remarkably increased volume resistivity and thermal conductivity can be obtained by heating a green body shaped of a fine silicon carbide powder admixed with boron or a boron compound, e.g. boron carbide, titanium boride and boron oxide, as a sintering aid at 1800.degree. to 2200.degree. C. in the presence of or in the vicinity of a shaped body of a powdery mixture of a fine silicon carbide powder admixed with boron nitride in the same furnace. The improvements in the volume resistivity and thermal conductivity of the sintered body are particularly remarkable when the fine silicon carbide powder is a pyrolysis product of a methyl hydrogen silane compound such as tetramethyl disilane.

The invention provides a novel method for the preparation of a finely divided powder of silicon carbide as a promising material for sintered ceramic products of silicon carbide. The method comprises vapor-phase pyrolysis of a vaporizable organosilicon compound having, in a molecule, at least two, e.g. 2, 3 or 4, silicon atoms and at least one hydrogen atom directly bonded to the silicon atom but having no oxygen or halogen atom directly bonded to the silicon atom at a temperature of 750.degree. C. or higher.
