A purification method for feed air in cryogenic air separation of the present invention includes purifying the feed air for the cryogenic air separation by using a temperature swing adsorption method, wherein the whole region of a carbon dioxide adsorbent layer packed in an adsorption column is used as a mass transfer zone of a carbon dioxide. Also, a purification apparatus for feed air in cryogenic air separation of the present invention includes at least two adsorption columns; and a moisture adsorbent and a carbon dioxide adsorbent being laminated and packed in the adsorption columns, wherein the packed amount of the carbon dioxide adsorbent is the same as the amount of the carbon dioxide adsorbent in the region of the carbon dioxide adsorbent which a mass transfer zone of a carbon dioxide occupies at the end of an adsorption step, and a temperature swing adsorption method is used.

Purification method and purification apparatus for feed air in cryogenic air separation

A pre-purification method of feed air for cryogenic air separation, which includes; (a) an adsorption step wherein a compressed feed air is supplied in an adsorption column, wherein a moisture adsorbent and a carbon dioxide adsorbent are filled in this order from the side where the feed air is introduced in the column, to remove water and carbon dioxide from the feed air; (b) a decompression step wherein pressure in the adsorption column is reduced; (c) a heating step wherein the adsorbents in the decompressed column are heated and regenerated, and the heating step includes a total heating step wherein the moisture adsorbent and the carbon dioxide adsorbent are heated and a partial heating step wherein the moisture adsorbent is heated; (d) a cooling step wherein the adsorbents are cooled by introducing a purge gas, which is not heated, to the adsorption column; and (e) a pressurization step wherein the cooled adsorbents are pressurized by purified air.

A method of restarting a TSA apparatus includes, in the case where the TSA apparatus was stopped when or after when a temperature of a purge gas which flows out from a first adsorption column () during a regeneration process became a peak temperature, in the first adsorption column (), closing an entrance valve, an exit valve, and an atmosphere-releasing valve; in a second adsorption column () during an adsorption process, closing an entrance valve and an exit valve and opening an atmosphere-releasing valve so as to release a gas in the opposite direction to feed air flow, followed by closing the atmosphere-releasing valve; pressurizing, just before a restart, the second adsorption column () with feed air to a pressure necessary for the adsorption process; and performing, after the restart, the regeneration process and the adsorption process continuously from the time point of stopping the TSA apparatus.

Method of restarting feed air purifier

An apparatus and a method for purifying the air used in cryogenic air separation are described, which are capable of effectively removing nitrogen oxides and/or hydrocarbons. The apparatus comprises an adsorber comprising an adsorption cylinder that has a first adsorbing layer and a second adsorbing layer therein. The first adsorbing layer is composed of a first adsorbent capable of selectively adsorbing water in the air. The second adsorbing layer is composed of a second adsorbent capable of selectively adsorbing nitrogen oxide and/or hydrocarbon in the air passing the first adsorbing layer, wherein the second adsorbent comprises an X zeolite containing magnesium ion as an ion-exchangeable cation.

The present invention relates to a gas processing agent for removing carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor in a gas at the same time, which can maintain a high oxidation activity and have a long life time, a manufacturing method therefor and a gas purification method. More specifically, the present invention relates to a gas processing agent made of a catalyst made of an inorganic porous material layer containing at least one selected from a group consisting of platinum, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium, or oxides thereof and an adsorbent, and a manufacturing method therefor, a gas purifier, a gas purification method and a gas purification apparatus using the gas processing agent.

The present invention relates to a gas purification method for adsorbing and removing impurities by PSA method combined with heating, capable of removing water vapor and carbon dioxide in an economical and effective way. The present invention includes an adsorption step of adsorbing and removing water vapor first and then carbon dioxide by introducing the compressed feed gas into the adsorption column; a depressurization step of lowering the internal pressure of the adsorption column down to atmospheric pressure after the adsorption step; a heating step of heating and regenerating an adsorbent by introducing a purge gas not containing the impurities into the adsorption column after the depressurization step; and a repressurization step of elevating pressure by introducing a gas not containing the impurities into the adsorption column after the heating step; wherein the period of time of the adsorption step, the depressurization step plus the heating step and the repressurization step are set to be within the range of 10 to 40 min respectively.

Gas purification method

A method is provided for removing water, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide out of a gas, such as air, by passing the gas through a packed column so that the gas sequentially contacts a catalyst consisting of platinum or palladium and at least one member selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel, manganese, copper, chromium, tin, lead and cerium wherein the catalyst is supported on alumina containing substantially no pores having pore diameters of 110 Angstroms or less under conditions which oxidize the carbon monoxide in the gas into carbon dioxide; an adsorbent selected from the group consisting of silica gel, activated alumina, zeolite and combinations thereof under conditions in which water is adsorbed and removed from the gas and an adsorbent selected from the group consisting of calcium ion exchanged A zeolite; calcium ion exchanged X zeolite; sodium ion exchanged X zeolite and mixtures thereof under conditions which carbon dioxide is adsorbed and removed from the gas. The gas may also be subjected to a catalyst/adsorbent in the packed column to effect oxidation and removal of hydrogen in the gas.

Gas purifying process and gas purifying apparatus

The present invention offers a pre-purification method and apparatus for an air cryogenic separation plant for removing water vapor and carbon dioxide from feed air, which is able to operate at high air temperatures without the use of special installations such as pre-cooling equipment or demoisturizers to replace freon refrigerators or water spray cooling columns. One aspect of the present invention is a pre-purification method for an air cryogenic separation plant which continuously purifies feed air using a plurality of reciprocally-used adsorption columns 5a, 5b filled with adsorbents for adsorption removal of water vapor and carbon dioxide from the feed air. The method includes an adsorption step, a depressurization step, a heating step, a cooling step, and a repressurization step, whereof the adsorption step for adsorption removal of impurities is performed by feeding pressurized feed air at a temperature of 10.degree..about.45.degree. C. into an adsorption column filled with water adsorbent and carbon dioxide adsorbent arranged respectively in that order from the air entrance, at a superficial velocity of 5.about.40 cm/s. Another aspect of the present invention is a pre-purification apparatus for an air cryogenic separation plant having adsorption columns 5a, 5b filled with water adsorbent and carbon dioxide adsorbent arranged respectively in that order from the air entrance, wherein the weight ratio of the water adsorbent to the total amount of adsorbents is 0.4.about.0.7.
