A 21-alkoxysteroid compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a methylthiomethyl group, R.sup.2 is an alkanoyl group having 2 to 7 carbon atoms, and a wavy line indicates the .alpha.- or .beta.-configuration has anti-inflammatory activity.
