A method of making a flat-plate antenna having thinner shape and excellent productivity, reducing labor for installation in an electrical apparatus or on a wall, and exhibiting desired antenna characteristics stably. The method includes forming a conductive flat-plate having a slit portion, a radiating element portion, and a ground portion formed by press punching a lead-frame. The method also includes laminating over the lead-frame with a resinous film. The method further includes forming first and second connecting holes through which a part of the lead-frame is exposed. The method also includes press punching the laminated lead-frame including the slit portion, the radiating element portion and the ground portion. The method still further includes connecting first and second conductors of a power supply line with the radiating element portion and the ground portion, respectively.

A method of manufacturing a flat antenna is composed of the steps of entirely applying Ni plating to the front and back surfaces of a long metal sheet, bonding masking tapes to the front surface of the metal sheet where the Ni plating has been applied except two stripe regions, applying Au plating to the two stripe regions by dipping the metal sheet into an Au plating solution, making a plurality of conductive flat sheets by punching the metal sheet to a plurality of regions along the lengthwise direction thereof after exfoliating the masking tapes, and bending the portions of each conductive flat sheet acting as a power feed terminal and a ground terminal. The metal sheet can be simply masked by bonding a plurality of the masking tapes thereto linearly except the regions where the plating is to be applied, thereby the productivity of the flat antenna can be increased.

Provided are a low-cost and high-performance antenna that can be placed in a small space inside a portable terminal or an electric appliance or housed in a wall or the like, and an electric apparatus having the antenna. A slit having a specified width and a specified length is formed in a conductive flat plate having a specified width and a specified length. A radiating element portion shaped like a monopole antenna and a ground portion (having a specified width) are formed with the slit between them. The width of the conductive flat plate (the length of the radiating element portion) is substantially a multiple of a quarter of a wavelength attained at the operating frequency of the antenna by an odd-numbered value.
